That's because he's using a different THEME. To change your icons, you have to change your Theme. The BlackBerry OS is somewhat similar to Windows in that different Themes can be used to change the look of the Graphical User Interface (GUI for short). This includes changing the icons, color and design of windows, etc.

Out of the box, a T-Mobile 8900 only has 2 Themes... Precision T-Mobile Zen, which is the default one, with multi-color "wire frame" icons, and Precision Silver Zen, which looks the same except for all the icons being monochromatic, with a silver color, which makes it even harder to tell them apart at a glance.

Normally, BlackBerries ship with a larger selection of Themes pre-installed, but for some reason, either T-Mobile or RIM made the boneheaded decision to ship this one with only 2, nearly identical Themes, and with no other official Themes available for download!

Anyone happen to know where there are some screen shots of the other vendor's themes? I'm on TMO.

How do you get some of the applications on the screen (home page)? I have several aplications in the downloads menu/folder. I want to bring one application (Opera Mini) from the downloads to the home page/screen. The BB tecnician told me I could bring the folder, but not the application to the screen. I see some of you have the applications on the screen. How can I do that?

Thanks.

Highlight the app you want to move. Hit the Blackberry button and select move to folder. Select the home folder. Now you need to find that app on your home screen and move it to the top. That should work

Since I need to change the profile often, I like having the icon front and center. But I agree with you that when you change themes, it's a PITA to reorganize all the icons again. There must be a work-around for this. No?
