Does anyone know if something like that is available anywhere? Or advice as to whether or not the holster is a bad idea, leaving the camera lens exposed?

Using a holster is a great idea, IMO, since it enables you to use the Profile settings as intended.

AT&T sees an available profit margin from the tech-hungry consumer market that will more likely buy the 8300 (camera, form factor) than the 8800...so by leaving the case out of the box...they know those buyers will probably spend another $30-100 on accessories before they even leave the store.
Indeed...and it could be argued that the typical 8300 consumer is more likely to want something different than "standard", assuming they want a case at all.
