Hi..I,m a newbie so I apologise in advance for any mistakes...I,ve just bought a new or nearly new 7100V off Ebay..I know, another wally..anyway, I,ve unlocked it for any service provider but when I put in my O2 contract sim it refuses to let me dial out, it doesn,t accept incoming calls, it also doesn,t send or receive sms messages. I know I have to have an account with Blackberry for the data communication side but I assumed it could be used as a regular phone..was I mistaken? If I put a Vodafone PAYG sim in , it tries to dial out but doesn,t connect the line and it will send and receive SMS messages. Could some kind soul or souls enlighten me. Thanks.
You are correct in thinking that you can use voice and SMS services, so it should be working. However, since it was possibly used, you may need to purge an existing IT policy from the device. I know this topic has been discussed, so a search should pull it up.
Thanks for the replies..I,ve seen a " remove IT policy" article in the your Blackberry FAQ section but it mentions a ..policy.bin..file to be downloaded and the link is dead. Any further help, pointers and a link to this file would be gratefully appreciated.

John..Thanks for the IT policy link, I,ve managed to remove the references to IT policy in the Security Options but no change...with a PAYG Vodafone sim, it,ll send and accept SMS messages but won,t dial out or accept calls, with the O2 contract sim it,ll not accept or send SMS messages and say,s " call failed " if you try and dial out. Will not accept incoming calls. Any more thoughts ?
