YouMail announced the addition of DropBox to their VoiceMail service.

Simply put, DropBox let's you send voicemail into the YouMail system, from other VoiceMail/PBX/VoIP service.

Pretty interesting feature.

YouMail is pleased to announce DropBox, a new, free service that allows people to integrate VoIP and PBX voicemail with your cell phone voicemail. The only catch is that your VoIP or PBX must support delivering voicemails by e-mail as MP3 or WAV files..

DropBox is fully compatible with the following major VoIP and PBX providers including:

* eVoice
* Google Voice
* ooma
* magicJack
* Packet 8 (8x8)
* Phone.com
* RingCentral
* Vonage

YouMail also supports many other PBX and VoIP services, and is rapidly adding more.

Every YouMail customer has a DropBox at (ie. ) where xxx8216;myphonenumberxxx8217; is your 10 digit phone number associated with your YouMail account.

How do I start using YouMail DropBox?

If you receive voicemails delivered by email from another service provider, simply go to your current voicemail systemxxx8217;s configuration pages (ie. Vonage), and change the e-mail address the voicemail goes to. The new email address should be directed to your DropBox. YouMail will take care of forwarding any necessary confirmations of your new e-mail address.

All voicemails sent to your DropBox should then appear in the YouMail inbox. Once there in YouMail, you have access to key YouMail features including access from mobile apps (BlackBerry, iPhone, Android) and website, voicemail sharing, spam filtering, and much more. Youxxx8217;ll even get full caller id from most services xxx8211; but if youxxx8217;re using a service we donxxx8217;t know about, your message will be treated as having an unknown caller id.

I do use YouMail and wanted to dump it. I am not sure if this news will linfluence my decision

I use YouMail and find it completely satisfactory... What don't you like ako?

My issues with Youmail have been with the app, memory leaks and battery drains. I was able to address the battery drain by turning off the polling and turning on the txt message for new voicemails (where the program looks for new messages). It solved the battery issue, but now I was using text messages and had to go into the txt message to clear that message.

Now with the official release of vvm by att, I'm trying out that and like the integration. My only complaints so far is that there is no way for it to automatically send a copy to an email. I liked having that as an automatic backup. Also, not having an online interface.

This new feature is not a must have for me, but is interesting since I have MagicJack and GoogleVoice which i could integrate.

One question for it is, does it differentiate different sources? Different colors in the inbox or anything?
