Angry My trackball isn't working! HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

I've had my phone since March and today, all of a sudden, the trackball went haywire!! It will move left and right, but I can't move it down AT ALL (and only up a little bit!)

How can I fix this? Anyone? I'm desperate!

Wirelessly posted (8900 on T-Mo)

If it is only 6months old, perhaps you can simply get a replacement.

Turn the phone off, press hard on the trackball and roll it up and down repeatedly. This should dislodge whatever debris is preventing it from rolling.

Don't panic. Check Youtube for one of many video about trackball disassembly and cleaning. Try that first. You will have to pick up a T6 torx screwdriver.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!!

Actually, when I left to go out the problem still hadn't been fixed, but while I was out, I actually turned it off and went to town with the trackball, rolling it and pressing it wildly... and sure enough that worked!

So whoever suggested doing that-- I am in agreement. That seemed to be the way to go!

I find that the reason why a lot of people have trackball issues is because they press down on it too often. You can buy a replacement trackball from eBay for $5. I suggest that from that point on, just use the trackball to move the cursor, but instead of pressing the trackball press the enter button instead. That'll minimize wear.
