So they are just skipping 4.3 and 4.4?

Yup - RIM marketing decided there were too many new features for this to just be a minor point release.

Anyone else notice the lack of 'OTASL' mentioned in their latest press release?

That doesn't look too good. I guess it has been pushed pack to SP6 or 5.0

This may sound like a dumb question but is this a free upgrade to SP5?

In regards to BES 5.0, I have seen it and used it. It is very nice stuff, however it is not due out until 2009 (approximately this time, next year). That is what they told me when I at RIMs offices a few weeks ago.

if it were due out next year this time, the beta that you would see would be horribly buggy

What I used - worked just fine. I think there is question on what is available and what features they need to add. It is not in beta in any way (internal or external).

I can safely say that the Alpha version you saw was far from what will be released when it's released.

Top qestion at WES 2008: "You said last year that BES 5.0 would be available at WES 2008 and the external beta would begin in August 2007. What happened?"

I just want to hear the answer from RIM executives who are asked that question. I think it'll be a fun response.

3.6?! Go 4.1.4 RIGHT NOW! I can't even remember anything about 3.6 anymore.

I was too hungover to ask questions last year, but I do remember a certain someone asking a question regarding shared calendars/contacts and such. So much for them actually meeting that May 2008 deadline like they said they would, eh?

Is there a detailed list of what is being released in SP5? I would like to know if they are including a policy to disable the video camera on the 4.3 devices (ie 8130). Currently, the "Diable Camera" policy does not turn off the video camera.

This BlackBerry - What's New with BlackBerry Enterprise Solution v4.1 Updated with Service Pack 5 doesn't say a whole lot.

Are you guys testing this on a beta or planning to install in a test environment? I can't imagine that people will roll this out into production in the weeks of it's release.

On the other hand, I'm going through an upgrade just now from 4.1.3 to 4.1.4 and it disturbs me that the latest release is weeks away from my upgrade.

I hate the temptation.

Mwa, someone has to take the step and install 4.1.5... So why shouldn't it be me. We already planned a change on March 1st and our users will have some downtime anyway

We'll see if SP5 will actually be available on Friday, so we can have a testday before the roll-out.

Have nice one!
