I just realized that my post makes me seem like an old person. I'm only 18, but it still amazes me when kids know what a BlackBerry is or how to use a HDTV.

LOL....I think myspace, youtube, and aim changed all that. My lil sis is 10 and is addicted to the computer. You may think its a sad world, but to us, its apart of life now.

I cant see the need for kids that age to even have cell phones. Man kids are way to spoiled these days. My kids dont get cell phones until they are atleast in high school. And they are prepaid so if they run out of minutes tough shouldnt have used the cell phone while you are at home thats why i pay ma bell 50 bucks a month.
|
Some kids are more responsible then others. With the schedule my wife and I keep it's a timing issue. If we send our daughter a calendar invite eveyone is on the same page as far as our daughter and other siblings being cared for while we are out of town. Can you send a calendar invite on a regular cell phone....no. Pre-paid just won't do. What happens if you need to get a hold of your kid or vice versa and their minutes are up? I thank God I have responsible kids.

So what's the age limit for kids to start using computers? What's too young?
btw im 27

I agree, age doesn't matter as long as they know what their doing and do it in a responsible manner when it comes to things of this nature(i.e. computer and cell phone/smart phones)

It's like the beginning of the revolution . It's cool to see such enthusiasm ..... you earned it (!) .
I was booting up my uncle's Altair at 8 . We thought how great it would be if we had a "t.v. screen" so we wouldn't have to print out so much paper .
Then in the 80's they had these things called Bulletin Boards . Whatever happened to that ??

I have to step in here and give my point. My daughter is 10 and is about to start middle school. That is a fright for her and us as parents. I gave my daughter my Pearl and went to another blackberry through work. I will get the 8300 for TMO when it arrives. I turned of the data and got unlimited text messages.
The BB for kids and text messaging is a NO brain-er. The younger kids in the forum here can attest that they text much more then they talk on the phone. It has proven to work out well with her. She gets out lengthy text messages and is never close to the minutes.
Thoughts?

I bought a 7290 when I was 17 and I can tell you that although I did not use the internet or email capabilities I sent and received about 4000 text messages a month. I have since then switched to other smartphones with QWERTY keyboards but no phone can match the quality of the blackberry's keyboard... I am about to get the 8300 so hopefully i will not be disappointed with that keyboard.

When I was a kid, we played outside and carried change if we needed to call someone from a payphone. if we wanted to hang out with a friend, instead of texting, we would ride a bike or walk over to their house to see what they were up to.
Does anyone else think giving kids this technology is contributing to our obese youth?

i don't exactly think its right that kids, at such a young age like i said before, when they are like, 10, really DESERVE such a nice fone. and its expensive! and especially if they dont earn it in any way...its kinda crazy. so well, 1) they don't need a BLACKBERRY at that age 2) its too complicated, nice, and expensive 3) they would definatly need to prove/earn something so nice, and advanced, and show that they wont lose it!!!!
but thats just my opinion, other may dissagree..
