Default Blackberry Storm is killing my PC! Any help?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all:

New BB Storm user here, first time with RIM smartphone. I recently spent over $200 with Geek Squad service, spyware, and anti-virus programs to try and figure out why my PC is crashing constantly.

Turns out there is something fishy happening with my BB Desktop Manager software and BB drivers that is crashing the system!!!

Now I'm trying to uninstall the program and it freezes upon near completion, and XP is still crashing and restarting.

At this point, ALL I want to do is COMPLETELY remove ANY files and drives associated with RIM or BB. For those looking to the obvious, I can no longer do a manual "Add/Remove Programs" task, since it is no longer listed. Neither can I manually remove the drivers through the Device Manager.

What files should I be looking for to delete, and what alpanumerics need to come out of the system registry. HELP! Otherwise, I'll have to wipe the Hard Drive and reinstall Windows, and I'm really NOT looking forward to it.

Thanks!

Four years and 35k posts and that is the first I have heard of that.

Check the RIM Software section here, Sticky thread entitled how to do a clean uninstall of Desktop Manager.

I have fixed countless PCs that Geek Squad supposedly fixed. High price and poor results.
Have you tried re-installing the latest version? Reinstalling "Over the Top" of the last instal will sometimes allow you to un-instal it.

If you get this far, I might suggest trying (if you already haven't) installing the Desktop Manager without Media Manager. We noticed that it adversely affects performace.
