Default Getting 8700r to set time zone from the network

Please Login to Remove!

This is probably a dumb question but is there a way to have BB 8700 to set its time zone from the network? I do have my BB configured to set teh tiem from the network but every time I land some place I need to set the time zone. Not a huge deal but why souldn't BB be smart enough to set teh time zone?

No, the network time is simply a number. There is no numerical representation that is relative to a time zone.

Default setting time zone from the network

Thanks for the answer. It is a bummer since this is kinda an obvious function. You land some place, your BB connects to the network and it is able to do all sorts of sophisticated operations liek register itself on a foregn network, get the billing set up, gets local time. You woudl think it woudl be able to get the time zone like GMT-5 or some such thing.

I'm not sure what jtdarden is trying to imply, whether or not the phone can do this, or the network, or Cingular's network in particular?

I know for a fact Verizon's network is full capable of setting a phones time zone via the network. My old sch-a670 set the time zone perfectly when I traveled. Unfortunately my sch-i730 does nothing of the sort :\ . Allowing a phone's time zone to be set by the network is dependent on the carrier and the OS.

Does anyone know if there is a way enable this on a 8700 and Verizon?
