Default Invisible Shield

Please Login to Remove!

Just curious to see if anyone plans to use the Invisible Shield on their Storm? I watched the installation video and have MAJOR concerns. It reminded me of tinting the windows on my car a while ago.

Where will the excessive "solution" between the protective film and the device run off to? Perhaps the speaker.....under the screen.......between the buttons.....?????

Yah...lol...i also want to know this....i mean, i saw the "big" gap that people are complaining about here in the forums (its not that big omg, exagarration, or you just want a perfect phone).....and that also concerns me. But i mean, what phones dont have a gap....?

The "gap" I think in my opinion a RIM standard......just something that they like to do. I've grown us to it with other BB such as the 8830.

But that posses a problem when it comes into contact with any type of solution especially the solution that is used with Invisible Shield.

if you look at the instructions, they want you to keep the phone off for 12 hrs after the install, so even if something gets there, it will be gone by the time you turn it on

Just curious to see if anyone has tried it? That solution getting into parts on the BB bothers me even though this looks to be a very good protective covering. The 12 hours may not be feasible if in the long run something is broken.........

How did everything fit? Is it clear as glass with no dust, wrinkles, or air bubbles? I would like to get the Zagg shield too I just want to make sure it fits on the Storm good. The price for the full shield kit is a little steep at $24 plus shipping...

Check out "ghost armor", it is the same type of material as invisi shield, but does not have the ripply orange peel look to it...if you google the company name, you can locate a 20 % off coupon. I ordered full body protection for only 17 bucks.....in another blackberry site, there is a 19 page dialogue with one of the company reps answering questions. He claims to have contacted RIM, who informed him that there is a "seal" beneath the "gap" that is meant to keep small amounts of moisture and dirt out.

What ripply orange peel. You can hardly tell it is on my 8830 unless you touch it and feel the difference.

Everything fit perfectly. It is like, 1/16" smaller around the edges than the screen, just like their other products. I thought $24 + shipping was steep too, but ebay has it for $20 shipped.

I had a full body shield put on today and it is great. Great coverage and perfect fit. Feels very nice on the device and gives you just that little extra added comfort level with the phone. I did wonder how, if at all, it would affect the sensitivity of the finger swipes, but it doesn't appear to have any affect. I have had these shields on all my phones for the last few years and never had a problem with the moisture.

I'll have to check out eBay for Zagg shield kit. I just hope it's not some cheap Chinese(no offense) knock off.

I put the shield on my Storm.

After hearing everyone rave about how it's the same material they use on the wings of Apache helicopters and seeing other people use it on their phone, I thought why not.

The solution is very much alcohol based, I believe. It evaporates quickly and there was not a ton of excess being pushed out, it started to stick instantly, I had to realign the screen protector a few times, but if you spray it a bunch first it's fine. Also, keeping a cloth on hand for spare liquid is good.

Mine looks perfect! A couple of tiny bubbles have worked themselves out. I recommend it. My buddy didn't even believe there was one on there.

Thanks Melisseus. That is what I wanted to hear. Did you install the full shield or just the screen cover??

Vermifax-

I have installed the Invisi Shield on two phones and both of them have a slight ripple effect. It is noticable if you hold the phone at a cant.....not knocking the product, but there is an option to have a smooth, no ripple, not tacky feel.

At least one Bold user installed the water/soap based product (forget if it's Invisishield or the other one) and ruined their phone because water got under the screen. I'd be careful on the Storm because of the fact there's a space between the outer screen and the surface you click against. I'd avoid water based protection products.

I've got the ghost Armour coming for my storm, however I read a post on another forum that said the person got liquid in his screen when installing his Invisible shield. No pics to prove it, and did not answer when he was asked if he waited the full 12 hours before powering the unit back on.... I'm still probably going to install the Ghost Armour on mine, as I don't want to risk scratching the screen without it...

Ok. many of us were worried about the gap and were told it is sealed to protect the phone.... NOT TRUE! I installed an IS face cover I picked up from BestBuy until I could get my BSE full body skin and solution got behind the screen. My phone is not usable right now and I am hoping after it dries out it will return to service. If you are installing a cover, do so at risk to your device. I won't ever do it again.

I have used the Zagg product on 2 other BB's. The solution is mostly water I think, because the instructions tell you to refill the container with water if you run out. There is no scent to the solution either. My BB did get wet both times, even the screen turned a little foggy. However they both worked fine after the install. I blew some compressed air into the speaker and headset areas to help dry it out if any went in. It works very well, and I never again had to put on a new screen saver!
