Please Login to Remove!

I did that and it gave me three options. 1. .74(preferred) 2. .64(downgrade) 3. .113.

once i click on .113 and select upgrade, it says that I already have the lastest os., which is the .74. I have deleted the vendor link and everything and to no avail. So now I am back at .74

Don't bother with Desktop Manager.

After downloading .113 to your computer from this link: Clicky Clicky

Follow these steps:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

I agree with the initial assessment. I was ready to change phones, but this makes thing tolerable for now. If they could improve the keyboard and the speed dial, I would be much happier. I am on Verizon too. And I don't typically do any beta software. I have a problem with two contact lists, but that predates the OS upgrade and has nothing to do with it.

Downloaded last night, love it. Like the new portrait full keyboard.

Couldnt tell alot of difference on the swaping from landscape to portrait though.

This does work great! Phone is much faster now and way smoother.

I only noticed one problem. The media player doesn't work! Can't play music or videos. Keeps showing "unable to play content." This normal for beta releases?

Hmm I dunno. I just upgraded and Ive never had it freeze up to the point ive had to pull the battery.. the browser doesnt seem any different, the phone app is most definitely faster and not as laggy as before. But my youtube app and weathernetwork_bug have frozen a LOT.

Also, I've noticed the icons aren't as high res as I remember.. ive tried to take pics of the homescreen but you can't really tell unless you're looking at the phone.. but the media menu, for example:
h tt p:// img18. imageshack .us/img18/3435/bbscreenshot11 .jpg
(take out spaces to view link)

there's like a lighter blue shaded box around the text.. not sure if you can see it in this, but on the phone its bigger than the text, so basically its not being transparent behind the letters..

obviously just a cosmetic annoyance, but this stood out after upgrading so I'm thinking my old version (.7x or whatever) didn't have this problem

ive tried searching around the options for image quality but ive only found that for the browser.. any help would be appreciated

That's odd Murray I don't have those problems. Maybe do a reinstall? As for post about media and videos above, I don't have that issue either :(

+10!!!! This is a very easy way to do this. Works great. Love the OS.....phone is much better. Less lag. I also like the screen goes dark when locked and wont light up when pressing the screen only a hard key will do that- nice in pocket!!!

Accelerometer is soooo much better!!!

Okay I'm trying to import a custom theme.. so now when I go into the application loader it wants to revert to the old 4.7.. saying it's an upgrade. It's greyed out and checked off so I can't change it.

Basically if I want change anything with the desktop manager for apps, it wants me to update my core software first..

Any clues how to fix this>?

Edit:
I've tried it doing OTA with the jad and cod files.. but it's just opening the jad file and viewing the text in it. I think it has something to do with tripod though.
Edit2: Ah yes. The folder needs an .htaccess file... unfortunately all free sites don't allow this :/

.113 is slow as molasses in comparison to the .114 Hybrid

.113 didn't even last an evening on my Storm.

I don't doubt that the .114 hybrid is better than .113... but remember that a lot of us are moving to .113 from .75! And there is a BIG difference in speed between the two.

They've all had problems, that's for sure. Which I think is the most depressing part of this phone. Depends on which problem you want the most. Right now I have .113 on my phone. To me, it's crap-but I can see how someone coming from .75 would be thrilled in the difference.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if .113 becomes the "official" then I've lost all faith in this particular phone. I'll go back to my Pearl until the Niagra comes out. Love the screen of the Storm, but the memory leaks, crappy battery, keyboard locking up/going nuts in a text or email...just don't have the patience for it. Kudos to those who do.
