OK, besides what JSanders has already corrected you on... here's where you are mistaken.

This 12.5% crap you're spewing out is nonsense.
The device is using different memory pools for applications and media. It's not the one chunk of memory that is being cut up by some "military standard".

The device has 128mb of application memory. The most of any BlackBerry to date.

This BlackBerry also has 1GB of additional internal storage to be used for media. The 128mb previously mentioned is NOT part of the 1GB media memory. It's totally separate.
Think of it as a permanently placed 1GB microSD card. (Most BlackBerry devices don't even have this unique feature.)

In addition to those two memory spaces, the device also has a slot for the addition of a microSD memory module.

Those are three separate memory spaces.

The fact that 128mb happens to be about 12.5% of 1GB is completely meaningless and coincidental. There's no military standard that dictates that all internal memory has 12.5% of it devoted to applications and the rest is allowed for media. You made that up yourself by your misinterpretation of some random post on another forum.

You're reading into the statement from another forum what you want it to say. You don't know the history of BlackBerry devices. You know very very little. In the past, there was ONLY device memory on the device, say 64MB or 16MB and that was ALL there was. As the devices evolved, in order to keep the secure device memory, RIM cordoned off a section as the device memory, which stays secure. Upon the introduction of the multimedia devices, starting with the 8100 Pearl, low memory errors began to occur, and RIM increased the the additional storage memory by adding the Media Card and then an additional onboard memory.

Could they make the device memory even greater? Yes, they could, they have (re: 95xx and 8900). Can they do more? Expect them to.

No one can enlighten you and there is no need here for anyone else to try.

As far as me making fun of you... yes, you are humorous.

Penguin and JSanders pretty much summed it up . Btw, I think this petition is completely ridiculous.

I think a better option would be to run some polls to see when people expect Verizon to come out with the upgrade. If only instead of a poll we could start a pool, start betting on when Verizon comes out with the upgrade.

Another poll would be to see how many people think the reason Verizon is going so slow is because their just biding their time to get people to fork over another 200 bucks for a Storm 2.

I love these threads. You go get the corporate giant and make them pay or everyone who is going to sign cancel service and move on.

I think a better option would be to hold a lottery on the upgrade release date.

$500/per slot/day. I'll hold the cash.

I think the point is "frustration!!". Yes, people can return there Storms or cancel service. But why should they need to. There have been updates after updates that have improved the performance of this device but all are unofficial. It has been over 4 months now since the release and no official update by Verizon. Those that posted in this thread saying it is a ridiculous thread are running the unofficial updates, making the device run much better. Please do not get on us that are waiting for the official release and frustrated because it is taking forever.

I'm just curious as to what you think will come out of a petition? Do you think Verizon is going to cave in and give you what you want? No they won't. They will release a new "Offical" OS for the storm when the feel that they have a solid OS that passes all of thier internal check and balances. They released the product with a poor OS(I won't say bad, because it isn't all that bad, it is just slower than expected by us power users) and now you want them to rush out another OS that could posibly be even worse then the one on the device already. You are just asking for them to fail. Just be patient, I'm sure you will be very happen when vzw does release a STABLE os.

well, it's RIM that is making the updated OS, it's just Verizon controlling the release of it...

many updates have already been completed but just not released by Verizon, that is the frustration....why not release at least a few of the completed updates to us instead of waiting for one big release...it's a corporate control issue at this point it seems

and of course the petition is not really going to do much...but maybe if Verizon saw how many unhappy customers there were, they might think about changing their policy on releasing updates...

maybe it has something to do with verizon's desire to get in the software game for mobile devices:

Ever heard of a Netbook?

That's what RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis classifies the BlackBerry Storm as: BlackBerry Storm is xxx8216;just smallerxxx8217; netbook claims RIM CEO - SlashGear

It's going to take more than software to fix the Storm, the petition is meaningless.

Yes, RIM is releasing beta OS after beta OS and Verizon is choosing not to make any of them official. So what?

Just like with any other purchase you make, if you don't like the product, you have the right to return it for a refund or exchange it.

Verizon is obviously aware of how many Storms are being returned, and they have the right to act in the best interest of their business. If the high rate of returns isn't a concern for them, they are not obligated to do anything about it.

The idea that people would actually demand a better product and better customer service through petition and threat of a class action law suit completely blows me away.

If you were forced to keep the phone, despite being unhappy with it, and Verizon was not providing you with the service you pay for, then perhaps you might have a case. Providing you with official OS upgrades is not part of their contractual obligation, though.

If you were to buy an HP printer at Best Buy that didn't meet your expectations, and then you found out the printer had very poor reviews, what would you do? Would you go back to Best Buy and demand that they do something to improve the product they sell but don't make, or would you return the stupid thing for a refund or a different printer?

You have options, and you make choices. Don't act otherwise.

First off this is not my petition

And apprently Verizon and RIM realise there are issues

Hence

RIM confirms Blackberry Storm 2 for 2009 - SlashGear

As for me i have been able to fix most of my problems by tweak certain parts of code and settings

hoping these and more fixes are addressed in a future OS update not in a new product release.

As for Class action Lawsuit Get a scence of Humor
what would you win your 99.00 back for the discounted price of Buy one get one

Apparently version early on decided to dumjp all inventory of this product the two for one discount from day one.

Given the fact the only difference in this phone is the interface everything is pretty much the same to other BB's

Thank You
