Default BT800? Just wondering if....

...anyone has any pre-information about the functionality of the BT800 working with the BB7290/BB7100T (or any units that HAVE "native" bluetooth functionality)...

1. Will it "show" caller ID / phone numbers?
2. Will is answer/hangup WITHOUT having to touch the Blackberry (i.e. - if it is in your briefcase/handbag/jacket pocket, etc. by just using the BT800?

I'm making the "assumption" that voice promts will not work (at least with the 7290) since that function is not supported.

Any other thoughts? [/u]

You should see the telephone number for caller id - no names since the BB doesn't support OBEX.

The BT 800 should allow you to answer, hold and hangup with your BB.

No Voice dial.

I spoke to a Jabara customer rep and asked them of the release date for the BT800 and they told me mid-to-late February. They told me I could pre-order it if I like but I told them I would wait for it to come out first.

Will have to read some reviews before spending $100+ on a BT headset.

Correct - At THIS time the BB won't support the caller ID name from the BB phonebook. It will only display the number. At THIS time. I emphasize THIS because RIM could change the BT stack to allow OBEX.

Default BT800

I talk with a Jabra customer person and he told me that Caller ID should work with the BB 7520. I don't know if he was just trying to make me buy it or he was telling the true but it sound like a fact.

NO VOICE DIALING DO

Darkvader,
There is a difference between caller ID (phone number) and caller ID (NAME) <-- from the phone book.

If understand what I know about OBEX, it is the ability to exchange objects (NAMEs) from the phone book through the bluetooth stack -- which is NOT supported.

Caller ID (Phone number) IS supported. So if what you want is to see the NUMBER of the caller, then this device will meet your needs. If you are wanting to see the NAME of the caller (and only those registered in YOUR phone book), then this device IN IT'S CURRENT CONFIGURATION will not meet your needs.

This will not change until RIM provides OBEX support to their bluetooth stack.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...
