Default Jawbone and Jabra Ear Gels. How to?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I just purchased a new Jawbone and would like to try retrofitting them with a package of jabra eargels that I just purchased from Radio Shack. I have what must be a very dumb question. Do you first remove the black cover with the hole in it on the Jawbone before attaching the eargel or does the eargel go over the top of the cover? Thanks for not laughing (at least loudly enough for me to hear it.)

I removed the black cover before installing my jabra eargel, and it worked fine.

My Jawbone should be arriving the end of this week and I am psyched about. Quick question. Why are you switching out earpiece?

Originally, I wanted to switch out ear pieces so that I could eliminate the ear loop. After I got the Jawbone, I found that the volume of the speaker in my ear was very low and I had read that the Jabra eargels would enhance the volume.

I bought the clear eargels from my local Radio Shack and I have to report that they are largely worthless (at least for me). The eargels fall off the jawbone regularly and the fit is no better than I had with the Jawbone's ear pieces. Oh well.

I actually went to Radio Shack and test this on my Jawbone and found 2 issues.

1) It did not "screw in" as my OEM Jawbone earpiece does. The Jabra one only caps on.
2) The Jabra piece falls off (as stated by jacobp) and does not fit well.

Did anyone else have these issues?

I have the same issue. The Jawbone is simply not loud enough for me...even with the eargels. Is there a way to pump up the volume on the thing?

in addition to the volume issue (which I also experience), does anyone else here think that the sound coming out of the earpiece is a little tinny? sounds far away kind of. that is with and without the jabra mod.

Yes it's "Tinny"....But if you use one of the larger ear jels which go further into the ear canal the volume will be great. As far as it not screwing on because it's just a cap on the one I used if you stretch it and work it down the post a little it will stay on just fine. I use my daily and have used it for six months without it coming off once. It is a bit challenging to get on with the ear hook and the long ear gel but once it's on it stays and is comfortable.

My 2 cents!

My soft ear gels aren't from Radio Shack, they are the ones that Plantronics includes with their headsets. I use the longer one, and it has never fallen off. It is also so loud that I have to use my Jawbone on the lowest volume. I really like the Jawbone for comfort and quality of sound. The people on the other end, however, say I sound far away.

Default Come on Folks!

PLEASE if you reference an item (like Radio Shack or Plantronics) can you PLEASE put the item number in so we can go look it up? This is even more vital if the product is something you LIKE! We all want the good cool stuff, and, we all HATE spending money on crap that doesn't get the job done..
