I cannot seem to do lookups against the company's main address book that has about 4000 entries in it. I can do lookups that exist in the employee address book just fine. How do I get the Blackberry to see other address books?

Thanks for any help!

You would need to talk with your BES Administrator as the BlackBerry will just looking up the main Name & Address Book in Domino. Maybe he can create a global address book to link them together.

You need to setup DA.

Talk to the Domino Admin and ask for DA as x14 mentioned, no other direct solution possible.

I am the admin for both but new to the Blackberry so I guess I better talk to myself. <g>

Anything special or is this pretty straightforward?

Thanks,

Create a new database on the BES Domino server based on the DA50.NTF. You can call the database whatever you want. I normally go with DirAssist.NSF when setting up DA.

Then in the DA database create a new document for every secondary addressbook that exists in your organisation.

Then in the NAB open the server document for the BES Domino server and on the first tab add in the name of the DA database to the Directory Assistance field. Save and close the server document and then on the server console issue a 'Restart Server' command.

Hope this sorts of the problem.

I was working through this via the Domino help docs and your note is a nice condensation of what is needed to accomplish this task. I am recoverying from surgery at home and my brain appreciates the assist as the meds bring new meaning to fuzzy logic.

Thanks again,

Okay, I have one of two address books I want to do lookups against working. I'm not sure why only one is working but I'm still trying to see why. I only have one server and the address books are in the same \data location.

Any ideas? Maybe it's something simple but I checked the names, etc.

Probably not, but could it be something as simple as a different ACL?

I just finished comparing the ACLs and don't see anything suspicious right now...but there does seem to be something going on there...one of the users who should be able to add new entries to this address book can't although she can edit existing entries. I elevated her to Manager without success so I think this is related.

Fwiw my user love what they have so far. Great stuff.

Let's check if your DA has been setup properly in the first place. On the BES Domino console, issue this command -> "show xdir". Does it return your 2 NABs?

No it does not. Guess it would help if it did! They are both in the Directory Assistance document.

Got it working, under Directory Assistance the Domain name would only take a single address book entry. Apparently Domain Name here really doesn't matter as best I can tell.

So I set up different Domain names, each with a single address book, and all is well in the garden.

Thanks for all the help.
