BIS 2.4 has been in place for a while now.
Since the middle-to-end of September, I believe.

As penguin says, BIS 2.4 has been floating about for some time; I would be surprised if you were not already on BIS 2.4.

Login to your BIS account. Do you have Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and few other folders?

Yes: you are on BIS 1.8
No: you are on BIS 2.4

To get to 2.3, I had to resend my service books. It was NOT as seamless as whst is perceived.

OK, an answer for smart people: if you are on BIS 2, you are on BIS 2.4. There is no BIS 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3. Does not exist any more.
Only BIS 2.4.

If you are on older BIS 1.8- you are on BIS 1.8.

Centennial wireless here in Indiana did not offer Blackberry Services until Sept 27. On that day I quickly had my already beloved Blackberry activated on the service.

With all of the research I had done on here I was under the impression if you were on an older version of BIS that there would be an option to upgrade when logging into my BIS client but I did not have the option. I also did not have the full attachment options that 2.4 is supposed to have. I could only send txt and doc files, no pics, no pdfs, etc. It took me 6 solid weeks of calling my customer service people 2 -3 times per week and complaining before they finally got the issue resolved.

This is what I was told "Our Tech support people had to call BB and tell them to turn on those services." Now I had presumed since 2.4 had already been implemented before our services started we would have already been setup for 2.4, evidently not.

Not sure this is relevent to any of your issues but hey, call customer service and give em a hard time. I literally had to tell mine "If your tech support people don't know what they are doing, then someone better be getting a hold of Blackberry and figuring it out!" (Ignorance is NOT Bliss and more importantly it's just bad business!)Two days after that I got a call from tech support telling me to go resend my service books and full services should be working. Whallaa!! It was just like magic, full complete BIS service.

Just a little input.

Also Centennial is GSM not CDMA like sprint. Thought maybe I should clarify that.

Have a Great Day all!!

Take a look at KB04989 in the RIM Knowledgebase. This highlights the differences between 1.8 and 2.x.

As far as the specific version of 2.x you are on, if I recall correctly 2.3 added the option for Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device. when you are in the Edit account screen.

It would be constructive if RIM added the version number somewhere on the BIS web page so that people could be certain what version they were on.

Can you list BIS 2.4 features you don't have but think you should?

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.1)

I just had my service books resent as I switched to the $29.99 plan. I notice I now have the option to e-mail all attendees on a calendar invite. I am referring to a generic e-mail. This may be part of 2.4.
