my son's mom is vip and all she has is a family plan. she's excited that she might be getting the "iphone" on verizon. she is not tech savy in any way. why she is planning on getting this phone, i don't know? but her little flyer came in the mail and now she wants it.

There are a couple criteria, but a main one is $80 per month on voice for 6 months.

No. The VZW flyer with the VIP sale was printed prior to the Storm being delayed. Since the Storm was delayed a week, it will be available to VIP's and the General Public the same day...11/21/2008.

I received the VIP card invitation thingy in the mail.
This morning, I went to the Verizon Corporate store at 6th ave and 42nd Street in Manhattan.

"Oh, we don't have it. It will be out on Friday, the 21st."

Pfft.... so much for being a VIP. Useless promotion.

I just got one in the mail today and I got SO EXCITED.

I open it and its for my grandmothers line only. This makes no sense. She has the most basic plan, no features, and just got one of the new free phones through new every 2.

Why in the world is she getting it, when she just renewed he contract and is definitely not the market for smartphones when I have been using Blackberrys from Verizon for years now.

Total disappointment.

My VIP card came and it had my spouse's number on it. I called anyway and gave them my number instead of hers and they recognized me as a VIP. I think the number that gets displayed on the card is possibly the last number that had anything done to it. In any event, the Storm is being released to everyone on 11/21/2008. The pricing is the same for everyone as well.

Awesome thank you! I tried calling and they said I was not in the database so they transferring me to their marketing department who said I was qualified. As mentioned previously they are not selling it early but you can in essence preorder it which I did.

Now here's the interesting part. They said $250 for the phone and of course the $50 dollar mail in rebate. She also said that I am getting a $50 dollar credit to bring down the price of the phone to $150. Another interesting thing is I am only 18 months into my contract and she said we as the marketing department can waive that but you cannot in the store or with sales.

So make sure if you get the invite to call instead of waiting to buy it in the store.
