Default Idle Timer Setting

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I have a user who using the AT&T Navigator app and when is trying to update it gives him an error

"The following permissions are still not set, or they are restricted by your network administrator.

null

Please be sure to Save when you leave the permissions screen. If you still experience issues, try setting all permissions to ALLOW, or check with your Blackberry Administrator."

I tracked it down to be an Idle Timer Setting that needs set to Yes. What I want to know is what all this policy change will affect. Thanks!

Usually adjusting the idle timer is done to prevent the device from locking during navigation.

if you have the device set to lock after 10 minutes of inactivity you don't want it locking when you're 10 minutes into a trip.

What you want to do is head to the user's IT Policy, edit it, and under Security, find this option: Allow Resetting of Idle Timer. Set that to Yes. Then push the policy down to the user, have them try again, and they'll be able to use AT&T Navigator. That's how I had to do it for my phones, and now it works nicely.

FDAMR - Just understand that when you do the above, you allow any app, not just the TeleNav app, this ability to reset the idle timer. This supercedes all your settings. If you have tight security controls to lock a device out after an idle time and the user has this app on, it will not lock.
