Hi all,

I have a AT&T blackberry 9700, and I am having a weird glitch with my BBM.

I can not find the icon anywhere, I have tried clicking "show all" on the home screen and in my "applications" menu.

The only way I can access my BBM is by going to my home screen and clicking "switch applications".

I have uninstalled the application twice and reinstalled it, but I still have not had any luck.

What I want to do is add BBM to my home screen, so that I can click on it from my main menu the same way I do for my phone icon and my email icon.

Any ideas on how to make this work?

BBM is usually under the Instant Messaging directory by default and not the Applications.

I had read this in previous posts, but I can not find a "instant messaging" folder.

This folder is separate from the SMS and MMS folder, correct?

SMS/MMS is not really a folder. A folder is a directory possibly containing other
applications. Like the Media dir, or Downloads, or Applications, or the Instant Messaging you seem to be missing. If Show All doesn't make is visible and you're sure you have it installed just use the options menu and assign it to a side button for quick access.

I have seen this be theme related. Some themes move icons to weird places. Some don't have the Instant messaging folder at all. If you have changed themes, go back to the AT&T default and see if the Instant Messaging folder shows up.

Second way I have seen this happen is after an OS upgrade. In this case, I had to uninstall the Desktop Manager and remove all settings during the uninstall. Re-boot. Install the DM again and then do a fresh OS install. I've had this one happen a number of times with some of the early versions of the 5.0 BM.

Be sure you have done a full backup prior to starting this OS reinstall. Instructions on how to do a full back up are listed here on BB Forums and in the BBFAQ.
