Default PIN messages not working between 8700s

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Verizon 8703e, and my dad just got upgraded to a T-Mobile 8700. We both installed BlackBerry Messenger and I sent him a request, which he accepted. He got moved from pending to online. I sent him a PIN message, but he never got it, and now he appears in my Unavailable list, when his BB is on and connected to Messenger. Anybody know a way to fix this? He's on a BES and I'm not, so I'm not sure if it's something they have blocked.

Really nothing bypasses the BES anymore. PIN messages are logged on the BES. Can you send a regular pin message to him?

Haven't tried. I thought you needed to go through Messenger? Do I just compose a PIN message to his email address?

Add his pin# to your contact list. Then when you add him to your BBmessenger select add by pin.

You can compose pin messages just like you compose emails. It's best to store other's pins in your contact list as it's obviously too hard to remember everyone's pins.

The BES can block Pin to Pin.
Try resending to each other. I have had this happen once in a while and resending seem to work if the BES is not blocking.
It may have been a network traffice thing.

Since this problem exists for others not on a BES, it's possible the problem is something else. Last time I brought this up, no one had an answer.

It could have to do with service books as well. Since both are on a BES this wouldn't be the issue here but in the other cases somebody mentioned I'm wondering if both BBs have a data plan? If not, PIN messaging won't work.

I have noticed a friend from Cingular having the similar issue. He told me he did not set himself to "unavailable". Somehow, after I send him few messages during the normal office hours (9-5pm), he "becomes" unavailable from my BB Messenger.

I've noticed availability on BBM isn't reliable. If you want to see if a contact is available send a message or ping. 90% of the time messages get delivered to my "unavailable" BBM contacts.

It sounds to me like you need to add each other's PIN's to each other's address book entries.

PIN's are not delivered via BES. However, IT policies can disable PIN messaging and BES admins can pull PIN messages.
