Default BES merger from 2 orgs to a new one

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Our comany is currently merging with another one. Each company has its own BES server v5.01, attached to its own AD forest and Exchange organization with more or less 400 devices in each.

We're planning to merge AD and Exchange to a new forest and organization in the next three months, and keep a trustee to the old forests. Because it concerns about 2500 people moving users to the new organization will be done progressively.

What is the best way to migrate users from the two old BES servers to a new one attached to the new AD/Exchange organization, without wiping the devices and/or losing information on them ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Stéphane

New exchange org means backup, wipe, restore whats needed and activate.

it helps to not have a lot of custom policies and configurations, you can activate all with a batch file using the BES Admin Tools and assign them to a group/ITpolicy. then the user can backup locally, re-activate, and restore stuff like themes etc, but only if you have OTA backup disabled which you can set with a batch file after the activation. just make sure the users give you some time to copy their mailbox data over so the device backfills. that is the best way to migrate people that I have come up with. a week later reset the OTA backup flag and you are done.

you're much better off to migrate everyone from each of the orgs in one hit, otherwise you will create more problems for yourself and you will just be wishing the migration was over.
