Is GPS avaiable for 8700c?
Please Login to Remove!
Does anyone know if there is a GPS tracking/ navigation kit/programs for the 8700C? I know Next2hell can but I can't find out how. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You might want to check out:
http://www.berryvine.com/details.asp?id=BVC
I can confirm that it runs on the 7290, 7100, and 8700 and does have maps for USA and Canada (although the detail - ie all the minor street names are not always there).
I don't know if it will actually sync up with the 7100 or the 8700 over bluetooth though.

The same API is used for both, it just has different levels of accuracy that you can request from it.

With Telenav for the 8700 you need a BT GPS reveiver. You can purchase it from Telenav and costs 139.00 plus 9.99 per month.

Well that stinks. In hind-sight, I understand why no one is using the location API on these devices. It wouldn't be accurate enough for the turn by turn directions. It would be neat though if the google local would use it for searches or to pull up your default map area.

You will need a bluetooth puck enable gps device which you can buy for around $129.99 with a car charger. You can also download this application via ota which has maps to use with your gps device.. pretty cool but no sound
use your bb browser. Once you at site scroll down to 5.3 locator. Click on link for US and bluetooth puck.. enjoy

I am beta testing the Telenav for the 8700c. It works just as it did on the nextel. The biggest difference is that when you loose cell coverage it keeps going with the directions. On nextel it would stop and you would be on your own. It is able to keep going since it uses a bluetooth GPS instead of the device GPS.
There are a few issues with it announcing street names and they are working on it. Overall if you are familiar with Telenav on the Nextel 7520 you will be happy with this version.
Any bluetooth adapter with a SiRF chipset can be used.

Yes but you will need a bluetooth puck. This applications can be dowloaded OTA with your BB browser. There is to voice, and turn to turn is like mapquest with painted path.. but it's free! http://wallacewireless.com/ota/wicdemoclients.html
