Default 'Out of holster' vs 'in holster'

Please Login to Remove!

New 8830 user. Formerly treo, so I admit I have alot to learn.

I'm trying to customize the ringer setting so that it vibrates when in the holster and rings when out.

My question: how the heck does it know the difference?

Obviously, it's not working for me. Rings in holster and out.

Thanks,
JC

Welcome to the forums.

There is a magnet in the OEM cases. This is how it determines if it's in the holster or not. This also puts the device in "sleep" mode.

Say you want to edit your Normal profile, use this example.

Profiles > Advanced > highlight Normal > Menu Key > Edit.

Select Messages [name@domain.com]

Out of Holster - Tone
Ring Tone - Notifier_Eager
Volume - Medium
Number of Beeps - 1
Repeat Notification - LED flashing
Number of Vibrations - 1

In Holster - Vibrate

Ring Tone - Notifier_Eager
Volume - Mute
Number of Beeps - 1
Repeat Notification - LED flashing
Number of Vibrations - 3

Those are just examples above, but the key things are to have the volume set to low/medium/loud for out of holster and set to mute for in holster AND have the tone set to Vibrate for in holster and Tone for out of holster.

Once you have that set, make sure you select the Normal profile (or whichever profile you're editing).
