First of all, are you using an 8830 as in your post or 9530 as in your profile?

If the wall charger doesn't work and USB connection tot he PC doesn't work, one could assume that it is the BB USB port that is bad. Did you drop the device or get it wet?

I have had plenty (about a dozen) 8830 devices where the USB port died.

yep, I can confirm that the USB port on the 8830 is pretty flakey. I've had to replace mine a couple times before I upgraded devices.

go to my computer and see if a usb is connected under portable devices.
if that does not work try it in another usb port
or try another cord.

Wirelessly posted (8700g 2007-04-07)

My 8820 is having the same issue. The copper connect wires in the usb hub have bent down and will not make contact with my computer or wired recharger. The charger in my car if turn in a particular way will charge but I am use to backing up daily. Is there anyway to bend the wires back up without cracking to case. I don't have an issue of replacing the usb port on the phone but I truly hate cracking the case because of the dust that gets in it. Almost no way to avoid it outside a clean room. Any suggestion. I don't have tweezers small enough to reach in side the usb port to lift the wires back to their upright position. Any help would be appreciated!
