Default Password recovery

Hi all.
I found a Blackberry world edition outside my office and I'm trying to be a good citizen by calling the owner (I wanted to search the phone book for "home" etc.). The problem is the phone is locked and obviously I don't have the password. I'm willing to do the right thing by letting the guy/girl know and have them come and pick it up, but i don't have the time or desire to take a trip to the provider company and have them take care of it. Any suggestions for me ? is there a way to bypass the password or restart the phone or something ? Thanks.

No. If you or we could bypass the unlock password, what would be the point of the password and security.

I know you're trying to do the right thing, good. Do this, open the back of the device and on the white sticker under the battery write down the PIN and IMEI number. Call the branded carrier and report it found. If it is in their system, they will take it from there.

You can't get around the password.

So, does it turn on? If so, the user's contact info isn't on the screen when it boots up?

Is there a lost and found at your building, or someone that can send out an all hands message?

At any rate, the IMEI or ESN number should be on a lable inside the battery comparment. Call the carrier and tell them the situation, see if they can put the owner in contact with you or advise.

You want to do the right thing but don't have the time or desire to take it to a provider store and let them take care of it? Why not?

Sorry, but something just doesn't sound right....and I hope I'm wrong.

Thanks evryone for your suggestions they were helpful. And yes Blonde, there are people who work 24 hour shifts a day and when they have just a few hours to sleep, workout, see their kids etc. they don't feel like taking a trip to the other side of town to do a good deed...I think I already did more than the average guy would do !
