Here is an interesting article on why LTE uses so much battery power. No BB with LTE just yet, but I am sure they are on the way.

Sometimes I think I'd be willing to sacrifice breakneck speeds for an all-day charge. 3G isn't the fastest, but at least I don't need to stay near a charger all day.

I tend to agree. I can't say that I need that sort of speed in a cellphone.

I have an AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G with LTE and it blazes. My best download has been up to 9 megs. The only issue is it must be plugged into either the PC or a wall charger. Battery life is going to be a big issue for the carriers and cell phone makers.

Going to be? I think it is now.

Many tend to blame the company that makes the phone (i.e. RIM. Apple, HYC, etc.) when one needs to start blaming the companied hat make the batteries for not developing something that will keep up with the phone technology. One could always install a bigger battery, i.e. RAZR MAXX, but then people would complain that it is too heavy or too thick.

I had a photo of a cell phone from 80's that showed a backpack with two car batterys connected to the phone to power it for a few hours as a joke. it may be more useful today than imagined. If I find the photo I will post it.

I kinda agree Dub and I kinda see both sides. Why design a thin phone if the battery you intend on putting in it wont provide enough life.

In other words, if the battery technology can't change as fast as phone technology, then phone manufacturers should not slim down their phones designs.
