Question Playing mp3, rm songs & videos on 8700g BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I got my first black berry. I am using default browser(I guess its from RIM) with java script enabled.

My questions is I want to listen songs or watch videos on BB. Looks like existing browser is not supporting it. Does any one can give an idea what to do in order to listen these songs on BB?

Thanks

You can use low bitrate MP3s for ringtones. Real and video are not supported.

I *strongly* urge you to look at the specifications and capabilities of the BlackBerry. It is a business class e-mail device. No video. No streaming audio (although that's being promised). No cameras, BT beaming or BT Internet. Understand what you have....

If you have an eval period in which you can return you might want to do some homework to if the BB fits your needs?

I DISAGREE ... I am in place and my work place where Camera (IE Camera Phones, Security and I am ALL FOR IT) aren’t allowed ... that is one of the MANY MANY MANY reason I went with the Blackberry no stupid Camera

You may not be able to bring a camera phone in for security reasons, but do they let you bring in an iPod, USB storage device, non-company laptop, access file storage sites like multiply.com or even gmail? If so, there's a lot more bad that can be done with any one of those things than a crappy camera built-in to a phone or handheld.

In any case though, just like Palm, HP, and others make camera and non-camera versions of their devices, expect RIM to do the same with the BB down the road. Don't be surprised if removable media shows up as well.

You may not want feature x, but if enough people want it, it will show up. If the carriers can sell more $29.95 to $44.95 data plans by getting BBs into even more hands by having a more consumer-friendly model, they'll do it. And Uncle Sam won't stop buying 8700s, 7520s, etc, just because RIM adds a camera to a model -- they'll just not buy that one if it's a problem.

Actually, if the carriers ask for it, it will appear. It is NOT consumer driven.

I know its main pupose is business class e-mail. But you have to explore different things when you have an item. I am not a dumb ass to limit the usage. I strongly belive that we can listen and watch videos using BB. why not its just internet????? U can do any thing dude.....

OK dude. I'm sure you're not a dumb ass. You just don't know anything about BlackBerrys. No offense intended. Enjoy the BB. Please.

And please post back when you can view videos on the BB.

Yep; shown at WES. That was what I was referring to in my first thread here. Looks like it will allow files to be downloaded and played. Should make the 64mb memory limit on the 8700 more interesting.

Can someone please explain how a camera and an mp3 player in my blackberry would have any effect on the security in another users workplace??
Are we so closed minded and "one way" that we bust on people who want something a little different?
Telling someone "they know nothing about blackberries" because they'd like to see a few creature comforts?

If RIM ever does ever make the "ultimate blackberry" model that has camera and mp3, don't buy the damn thing!!!!

I own a few different BB's and wouldn't trade them for anything-BUT
Just in case you haven't heard, there is life beyond the Blackberry.

YMMV (your milage may vary)

totally agree with you on the security issue with cameras , they are not allowed in my work place either .... however , I do think that RIM should offer the camera as an option ... you know , for people that do want the BEST email machine on the planet plus a little fun ... maybe sending pictures to grandma while on the go . i mean , Blackberry's come with IM programs and calypso ring tones from the factory whats the difference with a camera OPTION for those who want one . don't want one , then just buy the BB without a camera . just my opinion since my wife and I constantly email back and forth with our BB's but she WISHES her 8700c had a camera , who knew , a choice in America and not just someone's opinion ... lolololol .

I've learned this less a few times over, see www.pocketup.com.

Don't spend 10 years searching for utopia like I did. Find the two things that you "need" on a device and go with it. I have found that once you start adding the "wants", the devices become unreliable and that screws up the things your "need" it for.

Get and iPod and Digital Camera!

RIM; don't add anything to this device that will screw it up.
