Unhappy BB Bold 9700 - Battery symbol with red strip trough it

Please Login to Remove!

Hello guys,

I've got an BB bold 9700 for some weeks now. I had the battery out all night last night (it was on half battery bar), this morning I putted it back in my 9700. I tried to start up the device but nothing worked. After that I tried to charge up the battery with the wall charger, when it's on the charger it shows a LED red light for around 1 minute, after 1 minute it shows the battery symbol with the red stripe trough it.

What can I do to solve this problem?
I've tried several methods I found on different forums, but nothing worked. Can somebody help me please?

(My blackberry was in my pocket while I was biking trough the rain, it was getting a little wet, but I don't think this can be problem)

If the battery got wet, it can definitely be a problem.
This is why there's a moisture indicator on the battery itself.

I'm guessing the battery is done. I suggest buying a new one.

The blackberry wasnt real wet at all, so I don't think that is the problem. I've tried several full batterys from friends, but none of them worked?. So buying a new one won't solve the problem

It doesn't need to be "real wet". It just needs to be slightly wet... and you'll have problems.
There's always shades of grey, but this one seems rather black & white to me.

It got a little wet... now it doesn't work right.
Either the BlackBerry itself, or the battery is bad.
You said you tried more than one battery... so now it seems like the device itself is bad.

then i wouldn't say water dmg but, still a tough call, have you tried to see if the computer can see the device through the application loader?

When I connect my BB to the computer, the computer recognise it as a Blackberry device. So yes.

download your software for your device from the blackberry website, install it.
do a back up of your device with DTM
then run the application loader wizard from C:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe (32bit computer OS) C:\program files (x86)\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe (64bit computer OS)
wen going through this stage DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY BACK UP
after that test the charge
then only restore from your backup file what you need

hope this helps

Ok, I installed and updated, DTM recongnise it as a Blackberry Bold 9700 and he recongnise my Pin. But it can't connect with my Bold, so I can't make an back up. There are more updates but when i want to install it, DTM says that I need to back up before updating, but I can't. I can continue updating here, but i don't want to lose all my contacts because some are very important.

if you update from DTM it should automatically backup with doing that update. then after that you could do the full reload after that
more tedious but still same effect.

It doesn't update, it gives an Error, it says check your internet connection. But there's nothing wrong with it.
