The only change I noticed is the adding of the Zen Theme as the default Theme and the Today Theme.

Default Verify Installation

I downloaded both the desktop and the handheld software. Two questions ...

First, I recently upgraded the desktop software about a week ago. Even though T-Mobile's site says 4.1.1.12 Desktop, it loaded 4.1.1.9 dated February 24th, 2006. Can you verify if this is still the same? If the same, I see no reason why one should re-install.

Second, the 4.1.0.346 states to upgrade and restore your data from the desktop. Can you confirm if that is required on the firware upgrade? I really want the Zen theme but everyhting is working perfectly with Bluetooth connections, mode tethering and all my applications. Would hate to screw up perfection ...

Thanks

Yes - it has been that way for a while. If you are upgrading DM, might as well download 4.2 from the RIM web site.

Please explain further. Did they remove the hide application option for basic themes? Did they remove the hide application name in Zen?

Ah seems to be a trend to remove the option to show the icon only in Zen. Does it have Turn Data Connection off in Network options.

I'm running SingTel .351 -- and I noticed that they removed the ability to assign the middle key for the Dimension Today theme. It looks like it's permanently set to being the menu key. Is it the same way on this version?

If the only discernable things are the added themes, I will just wait until 4.2 to come out. Not worth the hassle of reactivating to the BES after.

Ok, so I downloaded the software update onto my computer, now what? Do I install it on my computer and then use the app loader to transfer to my phone? I did the 'run' function on the desktop and it says it loaded onto my computer, but it's not on my desktop. I need help, never used app loader before...where did it go?

I so need this update, it's going to help with some audio issues with the speakerphone.

For those that use my ALX files, use the one from Dobson... it's the same OS.

Package: 4.1.0.456

I was looking at the Blackberry.alx file and noticed that a 71xx series bb was getting a Rolling Stones Zen theme. whats up with that?

<!-- Rolling Stones Zen filesets -->

<fileset Colour="True" KeyboardType="Reduced" Java="1.0" series="7100" _vendorID="219">
<files>
net_rim_theme_219_240x260.cod

Default How do I 'force' the firmware upgrade?

Help!

Similar to a messaage earlier, I have run the 346 software update - Windows goes through its 'install' routine and then finishes.

When I run Desktop, I am sure it used to prompt me to install the firmware upgrade, but I cant see any option to do this. I have installed the 4.2 Desktop - still the same.

How do I 'force' it to upgrade the firmware?

Heeeelp!!!

Mik

It seems there is no alert icon for BB Mess when a message is waiting. It seems to be only the Zen theme that has this problem.

When I downloaded this new updated.. I noticed that you can finally put the address book in one of the shortcut keys second it deleted all blackberry messenger contacts (me so dumb.. I should've backed it up) and it also disabled the alert icon when you get messages or friend request for bb messenger grrr.
