Default 8700 GPRS/EDGE Internet Connectivity?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has tried to use the 8700 to connect to the internet via GPRS/EDGE on their PC? I was hoping that it will at least support this function via a USB cable like the 710x series. Bluetooth data support would be even better!

Has anyone tried this?

I attempted it on my laptop with the same settings i used with my 7290, but was unable to get it to connect. It was also not recognized as a modem. Hopefully it is just a "lack of drivers" issue and not a "they disabled this functionality" issue. Anyone else have luck with this.

I believe I heard somewhere that the modem software is not yet available and expected to be available by January.

I believe that they mentioned, during the Cingular announcement conference call that this feature would be available later. I beleive they said "early next year." I also believe that they said they were working on pricing for the data feature.

Does anyone else recall the same?

Now that you mention it, that is where I heard it.
