Question Any way to save/fwd/copy/whatever an SMS txt message?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

I've got a long threaded TXT message on my 9700 and I was wondering if there is any way to send that somewhere for safe keeping? I tried to save it, e-mail it, etc... and no dice. I'd like not to lose it, but I'd also like to start using my new 9800... not sure it will transfer over in the swap process. Not to mention, I'd just like to have the info contained within for future reference... Thanks for any input!

click on the blackberry key and you will see options.
you need to do this for each segment.

you will see forward as, select email.

You mean "forward as"? That's what I was thinking, but I don't use SMS and didn't know if the forward as command would be in the menu or not for an SMS.

Thanks for your input guys...

Yea, that was my fear... I would have to do that for each segment... I have over 500 segments in this one txt message... Wish there way to extract the text from the backed up SMS database... But then, I also wish I drove a Ferrari.

Anybody know any secrets?

Backup the device with BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

Then get ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter software on your computer and open the IPD file from the backup and print, manage, convert the data from there.

MagicBerry Blackberry IPD Editor and Converter 3.0 has a bit higher rating and is free, no trial period.

It's a shame you can't forward the entire conversation in a single message. Sure would be a nice feature to include in future builds of the OS. Migrating SMS messages to a new device is a major stumbling block for users, both business and general consumer. If RIM wanted folks to upgrade handhelds more frequently, that would be a good place to start when telling them why to get another BlackBerry instead of something else. "Because you can take ALL your stuff with you. Including your text messages..."
