Terminal? If you mean on the BlackBerry, look in options on the About screen. Or type *myver* without the *'s in a text field and you will see model and OS version, similar to 9900/7.1.0.284 (which is what I'm using).

Now I'm experiencing something strange.
I successfully installed the actually proposed version 7.1.0.37 but the version shown on my BB is still the original version 5.0.0.497.
Any explanation on what happens?

7.1 is the desktop software. 5.0 is the software on the Blackberrybitself. You updated or installed the desktop software...

Thanks NJBlackberry, this makes it clear.
Now if my Blackberry device software is supoposed to be uptodate, does it support BIS to sync google (I have an active dataplan)?
If yes how do I configure BIS to sync Google contacts and calender?

If you don't have a BlackBerry data plan then there is no way you have BIS. I have to leave google questions to those who use its services.

By the way, once you have a BlackBerry data plan on your line, there is really no configuration on your part. You will need to associate your device PIN with the BIS, but that will likely be done when the BIS plan is added. After that, the service provider will push service books to your device. And that's it. What you do so far as Google is concerned depends on the particular service, its prerequisites, and whether it is even supported on BlackBerrys.
