Default Do you find the Pearl 8100 has a weak telephone signal?

Please Login to Remove!

I am finding that driving around, my Pearl's signal is not as strong as my Razr when they are side by side.

I am talking 1 bar on the Peral and 4-5 Bars on the Razr

Do you find this?

Thank you

Elliot

I agree. I've had my pearl for about a month now and I noticed the signal strength wasn't as good as my previous samsung slider phone. The pearl isn't bad in good service areas, but when in poor service areas (like in my bedroom) the pearl is very spotty with getting service. This is where I see the difference... sucks, but I still love the pearl...

I disagree. I've compared my Pearl to a V3t and find them to be about equivalent.

I've switched from the razr v3I to the Pearl and found reception pretty close to equal. The razr may have a very slight edge but nothing worth speaking of.
Maybe your device is defective because most reviews of rf seem good.

My house is in an area with bad reception. The pearl is my best phone to date as far as signal goes. I can get a good signal everywhere in my house. I couldn't say the same for my treo, 8525 or razr.

Our house is also in a cellphone vortex, and we had NO SERVICE about 75-80%% of the time with Nextel and reception was also terrible with Verizon and Cingular.

With the Pearl and T-Mobile, we have crystal-clear reception everywhere in the house and in the garage and not one dropped call ever. It's so nice to have a reliable phone and fabulous service!

That's the same case with me. But my parent's Razr V3t has the best reception ever!
I called T-mobile customer service, and they said I would have to just pull out my battery everytime my reception was dead or bad. Then they said if the problem persist, I would have to reset my phone...

I've had Cingular using a Sony Ericcson and a Moto SLVR L6 (biggest hunk of crap ever made!) with spotty signal at my house. The SLVR was unlocked so I used it briefly with T-Mo with similar results. My Pearl will lose signal on occasion at my house, but has signal at least 80% of the time. That's more than any of my other phones. I know my house is in a dead zone, but lo and behold my work Nextel has the best signal here. Makes no sense at all. I used to have Nextel and got rid of them because of all the dead zones. Oh well. But my Pearl has been wonderful with signal.

Default Update

TMO had me re-install the software, which I did even though it was the same version......

Not one bit of difference. I am sitting in my office with 1 bar and people that I have spoken to today say that the quality is terrible....when I go upstairs I get 4 bars and the voice quality, I am told is much better.

Bummer.

You can't compare signal strengths from different phones. Two bars on one phone maybe the same as 4 bars on another manufacturer.
