Did any of you guys experience this? What did you guys do?

Last time I upgraded was in September of 2007 when the 8320 came out.
wow, same exact thing here!

Luckily I have more than one line. LOL.

I'm having no luck getting them to drop the price though! I'm reading here and seeing people getting the mail in rebate applied to the account and getting it for $149.99? WTF?!?! I've been with them since Sept 2002!!!!

I finally ordered mine, talked to the retention department. I told them I'm canceling my contract and switch to AT$T to get the bold for $49.99. I was able to get the 8900 for $299 with $100 rebate on an installment plan.

i got mine for $299 - $100 mail-in rebate = $199, which is the full discount price for 2 year contract with tmo. the original offer was the same as yours which is $429 (partial discount). been with tmo for only 4 months and i asked cs to transfer me to the retention dept (customer loyalty). told them that bold is $199 with att and storm is $149 with verizon. planning to cancel tmo if i didn't get at least $199, so they gave me the full discount. ordered it yesterday 6 am EST and the phone arrived 2 pm today. i asked for 3 day shipping, but UPS did a faster delivery (one day only, awesome!). i spread the total price to 4 installments. sweet...

i'm loving it right now. will try to upgrade os later tonight.

just ordered 2 8900's; one for me and one for the girlfriend

i was out of contract and got them for 179 + free shipping each with 2/yr contract without a mail in rebate from T-Mobile customer service. The first rep i talked to said he couldn't move off the 299 w/ 100mir price, then i asked him to transfer me to someone that wont make me cancel my contract; after that it went very smoothly

i cant wait to get this phone. I've had a razer (yes a razer) for like 4.5 yrs now and my girlfriend has had a pearl.

Tried talking to customer loyalty today and they wouldn't even transfer me.

What bums!

It's rediculous i've been with them since 2002 and have upgrade my line only twice, due to this reason, crappy pricing! I always end up buying a phone off ebay cause it makes more sense. I hate how the like to play games, i'm a straight shooter, so if they need to hear me say i'm gonna cancel, I might as well. Why can't they just get to the point.

Ok, it is about time for me to give my pricing and ordering run down regarding the 8900.

Quick background: Both lines on my account are out of contract and I have been with T-Mobile since 2001 when they were still Voicestream here in the US. I do not upgrade too frequently and had a known service issue about a year ago with calls originating in a certain region not reaching me in DC.

When starting the upgrade process, I called T-Mobile twice and spoke to Customer Serve rep and each time was quoted the $199 price and on the second call, they did not want to transfer me to an "account specialist". This set the stage nicely.

My finance made the third call to T-Mobile and expressed how upset I was with not being able to speak with an account specialist. She ultimately spoke with the retention people. She made the valid arguments of us being long time customers and having a service problem a year ago. The T-Mobile rep looked at our account and realized that we have not asked for much through the years and after much back and forth during the conversation, made a great offer.

We ordered two 8900's for $129.00 each with no rebate nonsense on Feb 16. They also agreed to the free express shipping. We were pleased to get such a great price on these new BB's.

The phones should have been delivered by the 19th, but we are experiencing the same problems that many people have expressed on the "Backordered" thread. We called T-Mobile on the 19th and were told that the phones would be about five days late and would arrive on or about the 24th.

I hope you guys find this info useful and if you have some valid arguments to make, you can probably get a great price on the 8900.

Success!

Had my brother call regarding my other line that is eligiable for the full upgrade. He called and asked them to transfer someone who can help him cancel the line. They transfer him to customer loyalty.

So he calls and tells them, he's unhappy with the pricing, having to pay $299.99 (before mail in rebate). At this point, he would rather pay $200 cancellation fee, and goto verizon and get the storm for $200 and practically pay just $100 more. Since he's not an authorize user, they tell him if the account is in good standing and the line is eligiable for the upgrade they can give him a better pricing than normal. They tell him to have me call and that they will notate the account.

So great, I call, talk to customer care, tell them to transfer me to customer loyalty cause they are telling me to call them. I get there, they ask if I want to add my brother as an authorize user, and I say yes, then I bring up the upgrade to the 8900, which they say yes, we can do a better deal, $179.99 (instant, no mail in rebate) like we told your brother. So I do it. They also offer MyFavs on my own personal line, as long as I resign on that line too, but I decline.

So sucess, its a shame no one could have transfered me to customer loyalty even when I asked. If a customer expresses displeasure with pricing on a phone, like the first time I called, they should do something to make you happy.
