I haven't tried the update. I've been running .250 for about a month and it's fine. My battery life is excellent, but it wasn't when I first started with .250. I discovered that Live Search would load on startup after every reboot, and it would drain the battery mercilessly. Moreover, the only way to close it is to access it through the Application Switcher and close it from there. If I opened it from the home screen icon, I'd actually get a 2nd instance of Live Search, so closing that one would leave the first one running. That's pretty weird behavior for a Blackberry.

Once I figured out that I needed to close Live Search after a reboot, my battery life was excellent. I don't know if this information applies to OS .231 or not, but I recommend to anyone who has Live Search installed to check it. I posted about this in the "RIM software" section as well. I really don't know if it's a fault in the OS or a fault in the way Live Search is coded. But it could make a dramatic difference in battery life for some.

Is this the same as the East Asia .231 previously posted on this forum?

I upgraded and also had a calendar glitch. Some of my prior entries now had 2 entries at the same time. I deleted one and then the appt failed to show in my hidden today view. New entries show up fine (I use one of my 2 email entries only). The rings were louder by a lot, I turned them down a notch. Battery life the same, speed same, as .114 the original. Probably not worth messing with looking back. I tried to convince myself the battery lasts longer but it probably is just wishful thinking. I got 3 days/2 nights this weekend with hardly any calls.

Question Wtf?!?

Another weird glitch has popped up just last night. For the first time in awhile, I had to do a soft reset ( + + ) because my web browser was stuck on a page that was taking FOREVER to load, so I was getting the "hourglass" almost continuously. Once the BlackBerry booted back up, and went through all the security checks and everything, my 8900 had the "hourglass" going for 5, 6 minutes straight before it FINALLY stopped and I could use my BB normally. So, I shut it completely down, and did a battery pull to do a hard reset. Upon boot up, same thing... "hourglass" for 5-6 minutes straight.

I have my BlackBerry set to automatically turn itself off at night, and then turn back on at 10:00 AM. This morning when it turned on, again, the stupid "hourglass" was going for 5-6 minutes before it stopped and I could actually USE my 8900. Again, this just started LAST NIGHT. Never had this problem before, and I've been using .231 for several days. Is anyone else experiencing this problem with the excessive "hourglass" (indicating that the CPU is at 100% usage, which prevents you from doing anything on the BB until the "hourglass" goes away)? And if so, how do I fix the problem?!?

Don't do that. Don't 'shut it down' first.

Powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and replace.

After using .231 for a few weeks I don't really notice any difference from the original Tmobile .114. Battery's the same, speed the same, reception/signal's the same. If you upgrade don't expect anything to get better, it's just something to mess with imo.

Did TMO release another update today? I'm seeing it on TMO News.com but I don't see it on the site or on BlackBerry.com

That is the only place I've seen mention of it as well.

It's OS 4.6.1.231

http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/

.231 has been on these forums for awhile now so this isn't really anything new. I have .206 on my phone and based on user feedback, .231 isn't anything drastically different performance wise so I don't plan on upgrading yet.

It is interesting that a bunch of people in this thread have said the menu lag is gone. I never really knew what that was until I upgraded from the factory Tmobile OS to the new factory .231.

Whenever I put my passowrd in it shows the "locked"screen for a second or two and when it rings its still ringing/buzzing for a second or two after I answer the call.

Its a bit annoying. I wonder if wiping and updating would fix it. Any thoughts?
