Default OCS2007 Pushed to Handheld - Question

Please Login to Remove!

I finally was able to figure out how to write the alx file to use with the bes to push out the OCS2007 client. I pushed v4.2.0 to my 8830 which uses 4.2.2.176 software and in the BES it now shows 'Upgrade Required'
Did I push out the wrong version?

Thanks

What do mean by 'write the alx' file?

You shouldn't need to edit the alx file at all.

You should be using the 'desktop' version of the ocs 07 client via software configuration. (Not the OTA version)

Our head server admin wanted this app to be pushed by the bes. Some of our users who have BB's do not have admin rights to install software on their computers.
Anyways....
The downloaded client does not come with the alx file to use with the bes to assign a software configuration. The alx file i created is good and did download the app to my BB. I also pushed it to another user who has an 8330 running v4.3.0 software and it installed fine.
The client has 3 folders - 4.1.0 , 4.2.0, and 4.6.0. I just assumed these were to be used with the respective version of software on the Blackberry's themselves.

The new OCS client comes in two formats... A Desktop version and an OTA version.

The naming of these is somewhat misleading, because it is the DESKTOP version that you should be using when you push the app wirelessly to the handhelds via BES software configuration. This version had the alx file already built for you and will install the proper version on the users handheld based on the handheld OS version.

I'm not suggesting that you use Desktop Manager on the user's desktop computer.
I'm saying you should be pushing the desktop version of the OCS client via BES.

I'm still unable to find a desktop version of this client that has the alx files needed for a wireless push.

Thanks

Ditto - my version only has the .COD files, and the BES doesn't find the software when I create (or try to create) a config.

Where please?

There's a link to a version here (from another thread):

http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...ml#post1031649

. . . but it's a Web deploy version (no alx file).

RIM took the links to the new OCS client(s) off their website.
They're currently unavailable for download. According to RIM support, the client is not yet ready for release and was mistakenly posted on their site for a short time.

Several people were "lucky" enough to download the client while it was available.
