Default My "friend" says my 8800 sucks - bluetooth...

Please Login to Remove!

It's because he cant seem to send me any files via bluetooth.
With that said, do I need to have the same model phone and/or service provider in order for us to send files (ringtones, mp3, photos, etc.) back or forth?

He has an Erazor.

I get "unable to pair" or "unable to connect" messages. My encryption is turned off and I'm discoverable all the time...

What gives?

- Kareem

What are you wanting to transfer? You need to go to the Media app then hit menu and select "Explore." Then browse to where you want to put the file. Then hit menu and select "receive using bluetooth." Then send from the other device.

I'll to re-explain:

I've tried to send mp3's, ringtones, or photos to other friends with bluetooth phones. They can't ever receive them. Their phone will discover my phone but cannot connect.

yes you have to pair with the device first, then set it to trusted (or they can accept the transfer). keep in mind that all phones cannot receive bluetooth file transfers

Some phones won't accept certain types of files. Early RAZRs won't have anything to do with .mp3 files no matter who sends them. So some schmuck with a RAZR said YOUR BLACKBERRY sucks? That's like Paris Hilton calling someone a bimbo.

I know, I know. Funny.

So it does depend on the phone and what about the carrier? Does it matter which carrier?

I'm just trying to test the bluetooth. I havent been able to see if it really works. Then when people want to send me a ringtone or photo, I cant seem to do it. Is there a listing of the specs for bluetooth capabilities with the 8800?

hahahaha. I didn't say that I agreed.

I knew erazors and most phones dont play well with mp3s but I've tried other things like ringtones and photos.

I've had friends with RAZRs not be able to accept files transferred via bluetooth. Do any carriers lock out file transfer via BT? I thought Verizon did that, but maybe they opened up.
