Ok, so my dad got this BlackBerry from his job. It isn't set up for internet or anything. Its NEXTEL so it direct connects and makes and receives phone calls but doesn't send or receive text messages, why is that? I know that when i went from a T-Mobile Sidekick to a BB 8310, with out switching my plan to a BB internet plan i still was able to send and receive texts and same with calls. Why can't this BB send text messages? I think it has something to do with it being locked by his job by IT Policy but what weird is that on another NEXTEL phone texting works fine, it doesn't make any sense. Is there a way to wipe out the IT policy. I already tried the JL_CMDER process and i also updated the phone and still nothing. Can anyone help me out?

If the it policy is set from work and that is likley the text issue, don't play with it. Msgt employers really drown on that.
