Default emails not appearing

I am on a pearl and at 11:15am today while I get every vibration that an email or text message is coming, it simply does not appear in my folder. My free file size 19,000,000. Any ideas. Blackberry support is running me in circles.

Thanks for any help.

Default Faulty Pearl - deletes messages, texts and call logs on its own

I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF POSTING ABOUT THIS FAULT!

Forgive me I guess I am a relative newbie.

I had one of the early 8100 pearls on the O2 network in the UK about 2.5 years ago and it worked fine without any problems at all it stored all my SMS messages and emails for 6 months PLUS.

Now I am living in Morocco and recently bought the new 8120, basically the same phone (or so I thought) but with Wifi (huge bonus)

Within 24 hours of activation I started to lose messages and texts and call logs. I thought I had a faulty phone but since it was the weekend and Maroc Telecom wouldnt be open till Monday I thought IŽd scout the net and do some research incase of user error (possible)

Anyway I find heaps of posts referring to this fault AND THIS IS A FAULT!!! but most people didnt seem to have the problem until a few months down the line not 24 hours like me. So after reading many posts relating to memory leaks and deleting non-essential apps I deleted the three games i had downloaded and two themes and rebooted. Still got the same problem!!

So I dug out my old pearl (sadly locked to O2 and basically a brick to me here in Morocco but why sling a perfectly good phone) anyway I looked at the file total figure and its 65MB (in line with RIMS claimed 64MB intenal memory spec. HOWEVER, when I look at my shiny new 8120 pearl it only appears to have 54MB so the phone is missing 11MB of internal memory and my file free figure is at best 6MB not the 12MB minimum some post sugeested for smooth running of the phone.

So I have now deleted all nonessential apps including brickbreaker and any unused themes to strip it down to "bare bones". by changing the reserved pics memory to ZERO I now just get 8MB free memory

Has anyone any idea if there is an actual FAULT wity my phone (forget for the moment the argument that its inherently faulty) where is my missing 11MB, have I got corrupted mem chips in my handheld???

Next question, my handset OS is 4.3.0.72 on my 8120 (my old 8100 was 4.2.something and it never had a problem in 9 months of daily use) - Is there a new version out that ACTUALLY fixes the BUG????

And why on earth a RIM getting away with not recalling the whole damn lot and actually "FIXING" the pproblem. Yes, its a great phone, NO, its a Bloody marvellous phone but the fact remains it IS FAULTY and I find it incredible that people are accepting the fault, surely RIM should just fix it!!

Am I the only one who feels this way or are you all content to use your berrys without any 3rd party apps installed or nice themes and ringtones??

What is the world coming too.

So Anyone with any more info, it would be greatly appreciated. especially a "bugs fixed list" for all of the recent firmware releases - Anyone????

Also interested to hear from other 8120 owners what their FILE TOTAL figure is PLEASE..............

Thanks guys

I believe this is new as of 4.5.0.93 for the 8XXX devices. There is a China Mobile Customer Service cod file that also should be removed (or moved to your Removed Modules folder). If you decide to remove _vendorID="204|241" from the China Mobile theme string, you will also need to remove, or move to another folder, the net_rim_cm_customerservice.cod file from the Java directory.

Default Completed the steps

but now I get a APP Error 528 with a reset option. What did I do wrong? I've read where someone else got the same error and the response was to wipe out my entire Blackberry? I'm not a technology genius and am not really sure what to do at this point...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you make sure you removed the following modules before you updated the device:

net_rim_bb_media_100_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_bb_media_114_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_tmo_five.cod

I removed all but the first one so I removed it and now it's trying to update my phone and browser, etc. and told me it's erasing applications and that I must activate my device wirelessly in order to continue to send and receive messages

I wiped it with JL-Cmder and am reloading the OS again...it's going through the almost exact process it did before except I had not wiped it yet. Hopefully this will take care of it. At least I backed everything up first!

So I'm guessing that if this works I have to go through the whole losing call logs deleting unncessary items process all over again?

No, if you're loading the same OS you already did the edits for you don't need to do all that again. If you reinstalled the OS to the computer or installed a newer OS you will need to go through deleting .cod's again.

None, it removed all of the applications when I wiped down the phone and reloaded the OS. It doesn't even have Brickbreaker or anything else that came on it when I got it from the store.

ACtually that's not entirely true now that it's staying on long enough for me to look at it. It has Facebook on it, as well as Telenav, Yahoo Messenger (which I don't even use and never have), Yahoo Search, and several others but it only gives me about one minute before going to an error

Default Attention JC: Media CODs can be edited to some extent.

Hi all,

Been reading through all the posts and I discovered one small thing that might be useful to some people if they want to explore it further.

if you use a Hex Editor and view the raw data on any of the media COD files that contain either the tunes or wallpapers, those files all start with a PK as the first two characters.

PKWare was the company that pretty much invented the ZIP format so any ZIP file starts that way regardless of what app actually created the files.

If you change the extension to ZIP instead of COD for those media files, you can unzip them and then use the hex editor can to see what the resulting COD files contain.

Some of them are actually wallpapers in JPG format.

After deleting what you dont want, rezip without any compression [store-mode]

Anyway, thats about it.

Thanks.

I did this, and everything looks like it works fine, except the theme. When I go to options > themes it says I have "None (selected)". I have all my other themes and even 3rd party themes, but it doesn't allow me to select them.
Any help?
