Default Can't Access Voice Mail when I press #1

Please Login to Remove!

When I press #1 for Voice Mail, I get an "Incorrect Number" message. It was working fine earlier in the day. Is there something I might have done wrong to screw this up?

What carrier are you using?

I was experiencing some problems with my voicemail on T-Mobile at first. It can be fixed by going to:

Call Log
Press the Menu button
Scroll to Options and enter
Scroll to Voice Mail and enter

Check the number that is displayed. The number that should be entered is: +18056377243

Make sure the + is there and make sure the entire number is correct. Mine was off by only one digit! I hope this helps

Go into you speed dials, and delete the entry for that key even if it looks to be blank. Then pop the battery out and it should be fine on reboot.

Just FYI, I tried this method first and it didn't fix my voicemail

Ok then did you make any changes to any settings under options. Normally this only happens with an OS upgrade.

This is what I found out after being on the phone with Cingular, my carrier, for over a half hour. In some way, I had deleted the number for voice mail in the first speed dial entry. We finally found the problem, reentered the voice mail number and everything was okay after that. Thanks for the input.

When this has happened to me, I seem to be able to fix it by just going into phone->Options and displaying the voicemail access number. after I view it, i go back to the home screen, my "1" key dials voicemail.

Strange, but it works!

Nope, I got the BlackBerry and the next day tried checking my voicemail... couldn't do it. I didn't do any upgrades or anything. My thought was that the T-Mobile OS actually had the wrong number for voicemail programmed into it. I'm not sure if that was the case but it makes the most sense to me

I'm glad you got yours working, though, zoeydanielle!

In my case, the 1 for voice dial did not work from day one. So I never bothered to look around to fixing it. Any way when i did the re-install of the OS for the reason of getting the ability to add and remove apps (like language options) the 1 for voice mail worked. So I never got to find out what happened. oh yes, it did not original work from the home screen but it always worked from teh dial screen. If some one is still having this problem try and see you get the same result.

Mine does that every once in a while if I try to access it during my commute. I've decided my phone gets confused sometimes when switching towers. If I give it a while it works again by itself.

Yeah, I just had the same problem and I installed the Cingulr Pearl OS and low and behold it said there was an upgrade to the phone and then it seemed to work again when I pressed the 1 key. I've also noticed that this happens if I've restored from a backup...not sure why but it does.

As odd as this may seem, here's what I did for a Nextel 7520:

Deleted speed dial voicemail entry for 1 or W
Cleared the device event log by holding ALT L G L G
Took out the battery, rebooted, and it worked

Every time I tried editing the number through Phone log > Options > Voicemail it would revert back to the wrong number. Deleting the speed dial entry and pulling the battery did not work until I cleared the even log. Clearing the log was the KEY.

Thank you. Your instructions just fixed this issue for me. There must be a glitch in the operating system to trigger this issue. It has happened to me 3 times and it started working on its own again at some point months later.

At least now I know how to get it back when it happens.

Thanks
