robdasho, I almost positive your question was answered by one of the mods in another thread...if you search for "uma international" it should pop up.

Interestingly I have an 8800 and have just changed back to the trusty 8700: what a keyboard!

So is it normal or isn't it? Mine clicks too when it rolls (and yes, I've muted the sound).
Put me in the "I love the phone but wifi totally SUCKS" category.

After 24 hours with my 8320 I'm pretty happy with it. there's just a few things that I'm disappointed with:
1. Voice dialing. It doesn't seem to work at all. Never finds anyone correctly. Now I do have over 6000 contacts synced in but...
2. Transferring media. Mass storage is slow, allot slower than I would have expected. I'm almost considering pulling out the microsd card, putting it in a usb adapter and loading it directly from the computer... With video transfered via mass storage (drag and drop) the video is way out of sync with the audio. Transferred via the Roxio Media Manager it seems ok. Which leads me to my third disapointment
3. The Roxio Media Manager is extremely slow. It seems to hang up for 30 seconds at a time and then when transferring files (audio or video) to the BB it's allot slower than the transfer via mass storage.
I'm hoping to figure out ways to improve my experience with these issues. Searching through the forums seems most find mass storage works well, maybe it's my card? I'm using a Sandisk 4gb.

I'm allowing Roxio to "Convert for Optimal Playback". On some smaller format files it seems to be just changing the fps down to 24. On larger resolution vids it's converting that as well.
To give you an idea of the performance though, I just transferred an 18 min vid podcast that started as 124mb, 640x360, 29.97fps. Roxio converted it to 110mb, 320x180, 24fps. It took 20 mins. Seems excessive to me. I'm doing this on a IBM thinkpad t43p which while not the latest and greatest is no slouch...

I was also not too happy about the 8320 at first and thinking of going back to 8100. My problem was UMA. Eventhough i had wifi logo in upper right corner (solid, not faint) i assumed it was on wifi but couldn't get uma. surfing seemed very slow similar to edge and with not much cell coverage at home, some sites were not available. Long story short, my problem was my router, Airlink 101 with MIMO, piece of chinese junk it turns out. 3 days of frustration resulting from a router, changed to a DLINK one and uma is ON! ALWAYS. And now i find that browsing is much faster, apples and oranges in comparison, it turned out that unless it says uma in the corner, you are not on wifi, even though wifi logo is on. Now i do love this phone, great coverage at when b4 i had none able to surf at home and do all the OTA stuff directly........priceless.

It is reencoding the files which is extremely processor intensive. If you uncheck convert, it will copy over in about 5-10 seconds. I've never used the "convert for optimal playback" option. I already have my files encoded... I don't want Roxio to reencode them for me.

If you can only use WiFi with your H@H Service without losing plan minutes, that's a huge feature negated. Personally I'm waiting for the 8310 from T-Mobile.

Not to dwell on this but by looking at this thread I can tell that most 8320 users like their phones quite a bit.
Regarding your cons:
1. Most phones are bound to have small keyboard and features. You want a brick: Get a Treo...
2. My trackball/keys don't make more noise (or less) than my 8100.
3. My wi-fi rocks. From reading here I can tell that indeed some folks are having issues with wi-fi, but once that problem is solved for them they should be able to fly like the wind.
4. True. The phone is too small and delicate to shove both wi-fi and gps into it, so you got to pick one. I like wi-fi because it is more functional to me. But this should not be a reason to avoid the 8320 or the 8320 for that matter.

ha! no need, I started my pda journey with an mda...I just liked the keyboard on the 8800 because it fit my gigantor man hands (I never had a problem typing on it) and was still a smaller device.
2. My trackball/keys don't make more noise (or less) than my 8100.
I'm really starting to think it's my phone. My friend has one and reports that it doesn't make noise with the sound muted.
3. My wi-fi rocks. From reading here I can tell that indeed some folks are having issues with wi-fi, but once that problem is solved for them they should be able to fly like the wind.
I am on day 3 with tech support for this, my UMA has worked for about 6 minutes over this span and my wifi is still ridiculously slow.

I'm still on the fence with this phone. going to give it another week before I decide one way or another.

Ya I have been playing with a couple of 8820's my parents got while I am spending the weekend over here. Both WiFI and GPS ... but I do wish wifi was faster ... it only seems a TAD faster than EDGE!
ALso, it has a bunch of improvements over the 8800 including the Spell checker, updated media player, and other things found in the new curve.

Battery life is another concern of mine regarding WiFi. I'd be more comfortable if the Curve had a battery like the 8800.

If you have doubts indeed you should take your time; the Blackberries aren't cheap.
Still, I would get a new 8320 if I were you and try its wi-fi. My wi-fi got working from the get-go -- anywhere! The speed difference is noticeable and of course I save on minutes to boot.
I am not so much into comparing the 8320 to the 8800 or 8100 but rather reporting how much I like the 8320. On taste and smell there's little to argue about

Lovin' It
I love my 8320. My wifi is excellent. The calls on wifi are crystal clear and the data on wifi is blazing fast. I have noticed that if I am in an area with a weak wifi signal the data is slow as molasses but that is to be expected with a weak signal.
My only gripe: the 8320 should have come with the complete 288 page manual. I think that would address a lot of issues people are having because with the full manual they would be able to see what all the reception signals stand for and the full troubleshooting. As of today the 8320 PDF manual was not even available at blackberry.com.
To the person roaming from TMO to Att..you should check the tmo service map before traveling to Iowa(e.g. ATT doesnt even have service in Alaska or Vermont). Also I have heard that TMO can roam onto ATT for free when there is no TMO in the area.
Also for those who have the H@H plan, I think you should go ahead and splurge on the the TMO router. Some of my friends main UMA issues were caused by the fact that their routers sucked.

I came from the pearl too and just bought the 8320 and was worried about the same thing, but look, you can change the trackball on the curve you just gotta pay for it:
e-Mobile Color Pearl by e-Mobile Software, Inc. - Handango BlackBerry Curve Software
What's 7 dollars compared to 200-400?

I jumped ship from Verizon 8830 for T-Mobile 8320 and so far I'm not looking back! I love this wifi, camera, and media player.
I have no issues with the wifi connection (seamless) or the phone (making button noises or small keyboard) plus I'm saving money per month.

Battery life seems to be tailing off for me. 100% as of 6AM this morning and now 65% as of 2:30 PM. Probably will not make it through the day without needing a charge.
Anyone else experiencing this?
