Question Ring volume: quiet v. off?

Please Login to Remove!

a silly basic question..but can't find the answer in book or by playing around with it. What is the difference between setting the ringer to Quiet v. Off? I just want to make sure that my phone doesn't ring in a meeting, but not sure which of these two is the better setting, and what the diff. is. Thanks!

anietor, welcome to the Forums.

You can look at the "specifics" of each setting, by scrolling editing each, but Quiet should give you silent/no audible alerts to any messages or phone calls.

Off, turns OFF all alerts and notifications. It is one of the profiles which is not editable by the user.

They are very similar, except you cannot edit the Off profile. And with that one, everything is off - ring, vibrate, LED indicator.

You can edit the Quiet profile, if you wish. For example, maybe you don't want to use Vibrate since (most) everything is set to vibrate. So you can edit the Quite mode and turn just 1 thing to vibrate (like the phone).

I have also found the Off profile handy since I have a few Exception Profiles that I use. If I enable the Off profile, the Exception Profiles are also disabled. However, if I use the Quiet profile, the Exception Profiles still work.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Wow!

Thanks for this as I too never tried editing the 'off' profile.

Cheers!
