Default Desktop Manager and Exchange

Please Login to Remove!

Calling all blackberry gurus ---

I cannot get Desktop Manager to "connect" to my Exchange server via outlook profiles. I've installed the Desktop Manager software, it worked, then my Exchange server took a small vacation (crash). The exchange is back up, Outlook is talking to Exchange without issue, but the Desktop Manager continues to say "offline".

I have tried to repair the Desktop Manager, also I've uninstalled it as well, and reinstalled it. NO CHANGE. As a last effort, I even created a new profile in Exchange and forced Outlook and Desktop Manager to prompt for new profile -- still no change.

Any suggestions ?

Desktop Manager doesn't connect to Exchange. It is there to sync your Outlook contacts and calendar info with the BB, among other things.

I'm confused. How does Desktop Manager and Blackberry Redirect work then? It askes me what mail profile I am using (I choose my exchange profile) and it says offline. How do I make it say on-line?

Also, I'm reading KB10595 from Blackberry about "cached" copies (which I've tried and it does not work

Help?

Do you have another computer you can test it on? The install could be corrupted - I have not seen that happen with BDM, but I have seen that sort of thing with other apps - then it requires a manual removal to clear out the bad entries - aka a pain in the a**. It would be best to eliminate this issue first.

manual = by hand. how comfortable are you with editing the registry?

I don't recommend trying this unless you have a decent working knowledge of the registry and you won't be heartbroken if you hose you windows install. But, that being said, run the uninstall for BDM, restart the computer, run regedit go to HKLM\software and delete any keys for Research in Motion. If that doesn't do the trick, you may have some stuff in your profile, in which case you would need to load your user hive and clear the RIM entries out of that. If everything I just said is greek to you, please don't try it.

My minor was classical literature @ Mount Union . . . I'd feel better if it were greek. I agree, I have to grab 2 boxes and load the BDM and Redirector on them. If I still have problems, it's exchange. If I don't have problems, it's a bum install, and I can reg-hack, or burn and reinstall.

Thanks!

You didn't say Redirector, you said Desktop Manager.

If you are using Desktop Manager AND Redirector, without success, please delete and the add a new Outlook profile.

I have completed those steps, and it still won't work. I think I have to perform a manual uninstall.

I was looking for a blackberry guide to reg-hack it

Okay talk about going around the Horn

All advice pointed to:

1. uninstall (including manual reg-hack)

2. delete exchange profile and make new one

3. disabling firewall

4. Stop using a cached option for ost file

Each of these steps were followed and DMS will NOT talk to exchange no matter what. Outlook shows online, but the Desktop Manager Software shows "offline". Can anyone give me the details of how DSM and redirector talk to MS Exchange. What parts of Exchange need to run to make the connection?

Any thoughts?
