Default Is it just me or what? Shaky battery door

Please Login to Remove!

My 8900 battery door is very shaky, it definitely moves, and in any possible direction. Very annoying, and quite surprising considering how solid the Bold is. The Javelin is a newer model and RIM promised better locking mechanism for both the Javelin and Bold, but this is worse than 8300 and 8100.

Is it just me? Before getting a new door, i wanted to have to hear your experience.

thanks

The locking mechanism is fine. The door, however, is a different story. It is definitely loose, and I'm counting on Seidio to come out with a rubberized one that fits better than OEM.

Mine is completely shaking ...from the moment I received it.
it's only because of the locking mechanism wich moves too much so it cannot be fixed I think.

My last hope is the backcover from our friens of cnn .cn , wich might be better made, but out of stock from a long time ago, in every colors.

I think this is way better than the door on the Pearl or Curve. I think this might actually stand up to being opened more than a few times.

I have noticed this myself and it has been a slight annoyance since I received my device. Its another issue I just put down to the build quality rather than a manufacturing fault. I have a silicone case so it no longer affects me in the same manner.

I'm guessing I got lucky then, mine is snug with no movement in any direction.

I plan on solving this by buying the gel skin.

Thank god! I thought I was the only one stuck with the shaky door.

Not happy about it. But don't think I can bothered to exchange for that reason alone. Especially with all the new activation codes required for a new device.

Probably will feel better once I manage to find a good hard shell case for it.

Default My solution

It was really bothering me. Unlike other generations (my 8700) did the same thing but you could put a folded piece of paper under the door and it would firm it up. In this case the door has no latches on the sides so it bulges if you do that. My solution was to take two small squares of black electrical tape and put them right at the top on either side of the camera near where the back slots under the body. I put another overlapping the recess that the latch fits into...down into the recess and up and over the top edge. Its enough to tighten it perfectly. Haven't noticed it since and it doesn't make the back bulge.
