My blackberry will not turn on. When I plug the charger in I just get a red light that stays lit for a few seconds then goes off then the red light blinks a few times. It will not power up at all and I have left it plugged in to the charger for a long time and nothing. Please help.

Unless you got it wet or dropped it, the battery may be defective.

Also have you added any new App's or performed an OS upgrade?

When I plug it in the red light comes on and stay lit for 20 seconds then goes off for 7 seconds and then does the same thing over and over again. When I turned it on at firsta minute ago the first few times when the light was off right before the red light came back on it would flash for a second and I could see the hour glass but it was real quick . It stopped doing that after about 5 cycles of the light going on and off

No I have not installed any new apps or done an upgrade.

I bet it is a bad battery. Try a new OEM one and see if that fixes it.

Ok , two things may help. The OS on the BB is corrupt and unless the phone is defective you can try to replace the operating system. Itxxx8217;s not hard to do. I have included two links to assist in the replacement. READ both and follow the instructions. If you have desktop manager and made a backup, all your contacts and emails will be put back when your finished. If you do not have DM , you can go to RIM and get a free copy for the PC.
Replacing the OS is one option. the other is to borrow a battery and see if it works then. Generally the blinking led's indicate the OS is bad but trying the battery is easy if you can borrow one.
