I also work with an unlocked 8700 on the Tmobile plan and love the experience. One problem; I basicly left the desktop manager in place and the synch still works flawless. My only problem is that I cannot install 3rd party applications anymore. The application loader says even: no system software was found on your handheld and when I try to load an app it says "no application found for your handheld"
I tried to get to RIM support via T-mobile (of course I cannot tell them I have an 8700) but they just told me to de- / re- install the desktop app, which I am reluctant to do as my synch works so well.
DId anybody experience the same issue?
Did you install desktop app from the CD in the CW box or used exsisting desktop app?
You need to install the handheld OS software on your desktop first. Select the latest version of the vendor of your choice. I like the new one from India that has the new dimension-zen theme. After that you can install applications.
Will a BB 8700 use the Edge network, i.e. higher speed internet connection? Will TMobile charge more for that. Is this phone specific - or if I get an 8700 either from TMobile or elsewhere and unlock will I be able to keep TMobile Service and use Edge? Additional cost? Thanks
[QUOTE=bigdaadio][QUOTE=nopesos]I received my unlock code from Cingular today and placed my T-mobile SIM (new account) into it, here is my experience:
The phone recognized the SIM and registered on the T-Mobile network. I did not have to modify any settings and everything worked including the browser. When I went to the T-Mobile Blackberry Internet Service setup page it made me verify the PIN. I entered all of my email accounts and was instantly sent a message on my phone that the email accounts were active. On the home screen of the blackberry each email account was listed with corresponding numbers next to it showing how many emails were waiting. You just select the account from the home screen and you can compose an email from that account; it will send from that account. When you send a message IT APPEARS IN YOU SENT FILE ON YOUR LOCAL MACHINE. I actually have sent message from my BB showing in my Exchange account for work. I am not using the Desktop Redirector or BES.
This sounds like PocketDay's functionality or what we have seen in pictures of the new 3G BB from Vodafone where the home screen lists unread mail/SMS/etc???
Bigdaadio - help us out here as far as what you are describing on the HOME Screen. What OS are you running?

No extra charge in terms of using EDGE over GPRS with TMO.

Not exactly. Pocketday will allow you to have different "reply to"'s for different email accounts but the T-Mobile BIS will actually appear to send mail from the account that you're replying via (in other words, the "from" field will be the same as the account you're replying on).
The multiple inboxes are news to me (but I left T-Mo a few weeks ago).
