I would wipe your BB and reload the latest OS for your device, that always fixes the random issues that my users face with their BBs. Good luck!

I have noticed on mine if I am in GSM mode it will not send or receive any messages.

GSM = Phone/SMS only.

edge = carrier data only, no connection to RIM data servers (no email/pin or browser)

EDGE = Connection to RIM data servers established (Email, Pin, browser, etc.) Normal.


EDGE is required for BB data to work on the BB.

I was just suggesting that he might be in GSM not EDGE.
