My update:

Juan, the network engineer with a knack for giving false-hope, has said that the only way to "fix" the issue is to add my BlackBerry to a BES.

I tried to explain to him that this isn't a fix, it's a work-around, and he refused to escalate the issue further.

I am still in the queue at the Office of the President and have a contact there who left me a voicemail yesterday.

She has been VERY SCARCE the last two days, I don't know if she's OOO or dodging me.

Okay - I live in Rhode Island, but I know of a user of a 7100t in Portland, OR that now has it working.

So. I find your statement interesting.

sempai--

I live about 2 hours south of Portland, OR. Don't know why it wont work here. Can you ask your contact in Portland if (s)he had to change anything in order to get it to work? I am still using wap.voicestream.com (it's not supposed to be wap.voicestream.NET is it?), should I change that setting? Please advise.

Any new information - others are posting the TMO opened the ports again but I know VeriChat sill does not work for me and others are posting the same....

What is going on? Do you need a certain plan to get Verichat to work now?

I am on the BWC Unlimited plan.

Anyone with info?

THANKS!

Default Switch to BES

At least for the time being ( until T-Mo gets things fixed ) I switched my plan to include BES access and signed up for a 3rd party BES / MDS provider. Everything is working again. It's going to cost an additional $20 / month, but hopefully it's only temporary.

Just a data point, not working for me in Portland, OR. I'm on a BWC account, using wap.voicestream.com for TCP.

FWIW, I've posted about this on one of my sites, www.tinyscreenfuls.com, and tried to get as many other gadget and tech sites as possible to link to it, to raise awareness about the issue. Hopefully, we can make T-Mobile sit up, notice, and do the right thing.

What plan do you recommend getting that will allow me to use Verichat without having to worry about all of this port blocking?
