There have been innumerable rumors and questions about the OS that is on the machines. Can someone who has a Verizon Storm (not Vodafone, not beta, not eval unit) answer the following:

1. What is the OS on the device when you picked it up?

2. Any truth to the rumors that the VZW stores were blasting upon pickup? If so, from which .x.x version to which newer .x.x version?

3. Has anyone heard directly from VZW that there will be an updated OS released "in the near future"?

Trying to separate fact from rumor.

my friend just got the Storm from Verizon today. It has .65 on it.

Maybe I am wrong and I am happy to be corrected...but that isn't for the 9530, rather it is for the 9500. Not sure it will work

correct, i had thought the firmware may be .82 as i had checked the version that i purchased from BB as it had .65. Went to the VZW across the freeway to confirm, and .65 is the firmware being shipped.

I was told today at a VZW store... after I got my storm. That in about a month they are going to release a huge update/upgrade for the Storm, That will double it's speed,

What doesn't make sense is all the numbers we are talking about here...are in the current release .65 and .82 are part of the existing build on our devices. Now, are they talking about 4.7.0.82 and a higher rev of the platform? Time shall tell...
