Default Success to tether Storm(Verizon) with MAC

Please Login to Remove!

Just want to share my experience with the forum. If this is a re-post, please forgive me.

I have saw many posts about how to tether BB smartphone with GSM services in the past. Here is what I have done with CDMA 1XEVDO on Verizon network with Storm (9530).

1. On the phone, turn on the Bluetooth with Listening mode.

2. On MAC, open the Bluetooth Preference, select "Setup New Device".

3. After discovered the Blackberry 9530, click "Next", and it will provide a pairing key code.

4. Enter the key code on Blackberry phone, and make sure check the option box on Accpet screen for future automatic pairing.

5. After successful pairing, on MAC, it will enter the modem dialing setup screen.

6. From that screen, enter the following information:
- Username: <your phone number>@vzw3g.com
- Password: vzw (lower case please)
- Modem: au CDMA 1x
- Dialing string: #777

7. Finishing the setting.

To connect, just click the phone symbol on the menu bar, and select the "Connect....".

From dslreports.com, my test speed is at average of 900KB down and 250K up.

For PC, all you have to do is using the VZAccess application that come with the Storm. No other configuration is required.

Default what version of Mac OS?

I'm using Mac OS 10.5.6 and the menus and sequence you describe appear different on my computer. I follow the sequence just fine and pair the two devices. Under the Bluetooth menu I select "Set Up Bluetooth Device..." and it opens the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. It finds the phone. Then, it goes to a Mobile Phone Setup page that asks for Phone Vendor, Phone Model, Username, Password, and Phone Number. That doesn't match what you have. I've tried selecting each of the Vendor options (RIM isn't one of them). So I'm stuck there.

You need to have blackberry tethering plan or else its going to take you to this page https://dunsp.vzw.com/selfProvisioni...sioningServlet

I wish VZW has a pay per data kind of plan, instead of a monthly subscription.

I'm able to tether my storm over usb.
You have to make use your using 4.7.0.75 or higher.
VZAM will detect it as long as your using version 4.1.2, anything higher then that version has the blackberry support pulled out.
